Description Rock and Roll: The Mega Man Adventure

Previously, I drew the Mega Man 3 Robot Masters ( [link] ) and showed off my combined concept of a final boss ( [link] ). There was a scale shot of Mega Man there, but other than that, no real sign of the main guy himself.

Here we have Rock, the Mega Man* and his sister Roll! I used the original 8-bit character model as inspiration for the faces, while making them both more robotic. While I gave Mega Man an updated version of his traditional look, I decided that it would be fun to give Roll a bit more playability, and transformed her into Mega Girl! (Because Mega Woman just doesn't sound as cute!)

Mega Girl is a more technical design based on the red dress Roll wore in most of her appearances. I was thinking of adding her blond hair, but with her red and black outfit, she might end up looking like a female Zero! Instead, her helmet's supposed to be yellow with green details to emulate her hair and the ribbon she usually wore.

If given the opportunity, I'd love to conceptualize a game that would use both of these characters, with partner-based gameplay. Sort of a Resident Evil 5 in a Mega Man universe setting, but with more platforming and even more shooting!

*For the uninitiated, Mega Man's original name was Rock Man. Obviously, the North American name change resulted in the loss of the musical reference in the characters' names!

Naturally it's all about the cute. These two remind me of MM Legends in a technically accurate style of origin story.

I'd love to see the Legends gameplay format mixed with the "over-the-shoulder" view used in the recent Resident Evil installments, so you can have a closer view of the action!

Of course, it would also work for deathmatches Mega Man style!

Sure, but were I to assume that the POV would lack a view of Rock entirely, that's some of the appeal of playing the game gone. However, the Metroid FPS style games were enormously successful...

Hm well, considering that both Rock and Roll are smaller than let's say, Leon and Chris, you can possibly keep a close camera but still be far enough to see them completely when in "firing" mode. The camera will be far enough away during regular movement since I'd want some good platforming!

Metroid: Other M features some slick mode switching inspired by the Metroid Prime series, so with an approach like that it would be possible to employ both views.

Sure!

Looking at them again, they kind of look more like the Reploids from the X series. Probably because of the bulkier armor. But that's not a bad thing.

Well, considering that Reploid technology essentially was based on Mega Man, it stands as a good reason why there would be a similarity.

I already have a pose in mind, but that one's going to be a straight digital paint-- I have a gritty look I'm aiming for that should be well suited for Heugoe.
