Wow! Are they stiff when you where them and does the design stay on after washing?

No, they aren't too bad when it comes to stiffness. My husband wore the Nintendo ones for a while and said they were comfortable.
The design does last, it's painted with fabric paint which is machine washable. To clean, you just wipe with a damp cloth.

Holy Moley! I just did a pair of shoes that were inspired my Edgar and the raven. Not as good as yours though, these are beautiful. I just started. I need to try fabric paints for sure.

Not really, only a dollar and change each, can last a long time too. Tulip brand is inexpensive.

Nope, I just clean the shoes with a lint roller first (makes painting easier). I don't seal either, they seem to keep just fine with the paints. If they get dirty I use a damp cloth to clean them.
