Title named by a good friend @ DAI have been squeezing out 1 to 2 hours after my work to finish this piece. In total, I spent around 8 hours on this. Particularly for this piece, I used a very different technique, which is the expressive contour strokes, making them look artistic drawn. The difficult part of this piece is obviously the contour stroke, each of them was shape created matching one by one to form another bigger shape. Special Brushes was used too.
Ref of warrior's pose and katana.
Adobe Illustrator + Adobe Photoshop 7.0, 8 hours.

great work, love the style although i think you should have avoided the use of gradients on the samurai himself. and avoided shadows, as if they were left off it would look like an awesome modern version of the old japanese style woodcuts.

Cool, I'm a big fan of japanese style art (and almost everything else from japan, for that matter), and this looks a lot like traditional japanese art, with some modern tweaks. Lovely, I must learn to use illustrator and the vector tools in photoshop soon.

Must say I love this piece, it is very detailed....and the style just catches my eye. If there was one thing I could critique it would be the nose, it threw me off a little. But I like this piece of art, just cause it so different. Good job.

Thanks for the comments. It took me quite a while to think of the color of the clothes hes wearing...Initially, I'd plan red and white. Somehow, black looks cooler.
