Quick-ass sketches for this fleeting idea I had of The Authority's Apollo in a .. somewhat more publicly decent uniform ^_^;; Plus, had to figure out how he'd work in my style. Don't know what good the pads'll do him, given that his classic uniform barely survives his fights. (Maybe they offer extra cushioning when he flies through things .. like buildings and people.)Apollo (C) uhh ... Wildstorm?

I approve of tights that look and behave like tights and not bodypaint. Also, like this the character looks less like the clunky Superman alleorgy its supposed to be.

This is ballin'. I've always thought his costume was boringly simple, especially next to Midnighter's. His thinner face is very 'him,' but the shoulder pads remind me of Superman's big shoulders, which I like even though I think of them as distinct characters.
To cut back on jabber, I'll say I think this looks cool and I wish Wildstorm would use it! (Go mail it to Christos Gage or something...)

Haha, glad you think it works for him, though I'm afraid I just spent the last couple of days scrapping various new designs for yet another take on his uniform XD I tend to think the simpleness of Apollo's classic canon uniform is very fitting for him, but.. eh, if I'm the one drawing him, I have a short attention span and I need folds and seam lines and useless accessories and junk to keep me occupied XD

I understand. I think his simple uniform is okay, but it seems like all its visual interest comes from it getting ripped over and over, which is redundant (hence the 'over and over'

I was talking about with illustration in general on this site.
It seems like many people are all doing the same styles and characters.
The Authority LJ is cool though.
I've come across it a couple times when I was reading the Graphic novels and looking for other artists interpritations.
I'm not that big on internet communities.

XD At least a couple fans are convinced that, what with the years spent on the run and having to take care of the only uniform (only article of clothing, really) he had, Apollo's made it a point to rip up every uniform he wears now that they're expendable ^_^
