Devonshire, you're so cute, I just wanna hug you all the time 8D. Tivoli's not pleased! I wonder why Syrren's stopped dead like that...

And with this, I give up. Anybody looking for more detail on the mission should wait until the grace period after judging and look through again, I will try get the chapters done!

Zooka huffed and panted, the tailwind he was summoning draining him of his strength rapidly.

Syrren and Nye were glad for it, though. They’d both taken a severe beating. Nye, especially, had been feeling ill from the unforseen effects of the temple before they’d even started. He was visibly struggling to continue climbing the endless stairs. The push from Zooka’s wind was helping him enormously.

“We’re there, guys, come on!” Syrren panted. She kept pounding heavily up the stone steps. As Nye creakily rounded the landing, he, too, saw the colourful fronds of the jungle at the crest of this last flight. He willed himself on. Not far. Soon they could leave this wretched place. Go home where Syrren might act normal again.

He struggled to the top, and paused for a moment to breathe the fresh air and drink in the beautiful, warm colours that were bathed in natural sunlight. Feeling slightly revived, he looked around at Syrren. She’d frozen on the spot.

“What have you done to my daughter, ghost? You’ll pay!” The source of these hysterical roars was mere meters from the temple entrance. Nye gulped.

“Tivoli.”

Syrren started toward the enraged Tyranitar. Nye leapt in front of her. Tivoli was occupied with Devonshire right now, and Nye would rather keep it that way.

“Syrren!” he hissed. “We’ve got to get out of sight! Devonshire can handle this!”

Nye wasn’t wrong. As they watched, the ghostly guildleader seemed to melt himself and ensnare the beastly tyrant in himself. Devonshire stared at the three of them for a moment, and jerked his head toward the thick undergrowth.

“Eek” came a pathetic, tiny noise. Zooka had collapsed quietly, still well and truly in the open, leaning back on the pilfered cello. He was watching the battle and panting heavily, clearly not able to continue unaided.

“Oh, this is great!” Nye whispered. “Syrren, the fluffball will be eaten alive by Tivoli if he sees he’s got that cello! And we’re next! Come on!”

She was still staring at Tivoli with a ridiculous grin plastered on her face. There was nothing for it.

Nye slapped his paw across her cheek. “Come on!” he hissed.

Syrren was dazed for a moment. She regained her focus again, staring at Nye for a few seconds.

“Come on then, let’s go.” She was still reluctant, but she headed for the undergrowth quickly, not even noticing the panting Whimsicott.

“Syrren!” Zooka rasped indignantly. She never left him like that!

“Let’s go, fluffball.” Nye dragged the exhausted cotton sheep onto his back, at which Zooka protested only minimally, and followed Syrren into the cover of the jungle.
