The younger half-sister to Sergeant Xiao Long and the only child to their father’s second wife. A bright and energetic young girl, always looking for excitement. She hero-worships her elder half-sister who intern, adores her. Ruby was heavily inspired when she first met her half-sister at the age of 7 when Xiao Long had returned home on recovery leave and waiting for her arm to be replaced. During those down time for the next few months the sisters got along extremely well, much to the relief and enjoyment of their father. Xiao Long tells tales of the war front, and her epic battles with the enemy. The only enemy she mentioned was that of the Scutari, as at the time, she hasn’t seen much of the other major powers the Kingdom and their allies are at war with. Ruby was determined to get into the action herself, and once she had finished school, barely 16 years old, she signed up to join the local Scout Hoplite training centre.
However, the Scutari Empire had other ideas and launched a surprise offensive on the Remnant Galaxy, securing 30% of the Western Quadrant, including the Vale System. But this was only temporary, as within days of the opening of the offensive, 7 nearby Pyro Solar Fleets, and their support allied auxiliary fleets, including the Remnant’s 1st Fleet, launched an instant counter attack, driving back the Scutari equally as quickly. During the 24-hour long occupation of Vale IV, Ruby formed part of a group of resistance, which included the 17th Regiment, the very regiment that her sister belongs. She earned her place early, despite not completing basic training. She was given her Camo-changer by Lady Schnee. Lady Schnee was impressed with Ruby’s marksmanship, but she has to get used to the extremely playful and youthful Ruby. But at least, as far as Ruby is concerned, her sister is only coms’ tap away. She’ll do anything to make sure she gets on the same ship as Xiao Long, only to get found by Petty Officer Belladonna every time, annoying Lady Schnee, and the joyful excitement of Xiao Long.
At some point along the line, she is joined by her family’s loyal and faithful pet Silicon Darter, Zwei, much to the annoyance of all the higher-ranking officers and some of the troops, as pets are off limits.
