They say you're your own worst critic. I suppose it's true enough. I just prefer to think of it not as the worst critic, but the best possible-improvement spotter.

Ah man Vex, what a gorgeous piece! I like your color choice and use of lighting to highlight the subject-- our eyes go where they need to go, you're an ace at this. The composition is great too, with wings splayed and antennae up to demand our attention. It works well! Very dramatic and authoritative, you can't say "no" to a display like this. One thing that would make the piece pop even more would be to add a tiny bit of "atmosphere" as I call it- a single color or shade that unites it all. This is cool with colorful works. Here, you add a new layer to the very top, set it to 10-30% Overlay/Softlight and then toy around with the color. Give it a shot, it really ties the colors together!

Overall you did an awesome job Vex, I really love this one. Your stylized pieces are always so beautiful and fascinating. I want to head towards the light, yes, I shall!

Thank you so much! I actually did something very close to what you're suggesting. I've added an overlay to give everything a redish hue and take a bit of overly-white haze off. Still, it couldn't hurt to fiddle with this a bit more on my next work whenever that's going to be.
Careful! If you go towards the light, you might not come back.

Hehe, hey you're very welcome Vex! Sometimes I find that experimenting yields the best results, so tinker around some more and see what works. Your digital art's improving wonderfully fast-- keep it up!
