Description Hey everybody. I'm a musician as a lot of you may know. My main instrument is the guitar, though I also play bass, and keyboards (though I'm still learning as I'm teaching myself how to play). A lot of my closest friends have asked me who my influences are as a guitarist, and I have many. My list of influences range from different genres of jazz, blues, rock, and metal and I've decided to list them here on my page. This is gonna be a huge list that I made that goes on for three parts, so there will be a Part 2 and Part 3. Now I must note that I don't have a number one influence. There are so many favorite guitarists that I really can't decide on a number one. Also this list, I will put the artists bands along with solo albums, and if I miss anything please point it out. I won't say why I like them because that would take too much time, but if any of you want to know just ask in the comments and I'll gladly answer. As well I will also put up a list of my favorite bassists and keyboard players. So here's the beginning of the long list.

Slash (Guns n Roses, Velvet Revolver, Solo albums)
Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, solo albums as the Nightwatchman)
Adam Jones (Tool)
Tom Scholz (Boston)
John Petrucci (Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Solo albums)
Bruce Springsteen (Solo Albums, E Street Band)
Pete Townshend (The Who, Solo albums)
Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin, Yardbirds, The Firm, Solo albums)
Jeff Beck (Solo albums, Jeff Beck Group, The Yardbirds)
Eric Clapton (Solo Albums, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, The Yardbirds)
Robert Fripp (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Solo albums)
Yngwie Malmsteen (Solo albums)
Steve Hackett (Genesis, GTR, Solo albums)
Brian May (Queen, Solo albums)
Johnny Ramone (The Ramones)
Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot)
Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience)
Ace Frehley (Kiss, Frehley's Comet, Solo albums)
Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Blackmore's Night)
Alex Lifeson (Rush, Solo albums)
David Gilmour (Pink Floyd, Solo albums)

To be continued....

That's a pretty damn eclectic...and EXCELLENT...list! And I like that you called it your 'Favorites'...rather than a Top 10/Top 100 list.

How about: Andy Latimer (Camel), Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, Flying Colors, Deep Purple, Kansas), Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Mahavishnu John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola...

We BOTH could go on and on!

Well I haven't really heard of those artists at the time I submitted this. I actually have gotten to listening to the Dixie Dregs and Kansas along with those other artists after I posted the list because people have asked me to check them out. Thanks for the positive feedback.

I must say though, I'm considering an honorable mentions list or something. Cause I find a lot of new inspirations as time goes on. I could consider putting Steve Morse, Al di Meola, and others on there
