Most people would be happy simply drawing Sandman's Death as she is. Me? Oh, no, I give her a girl’s face of rosy cheeks, and lovely, soft curls to go, to the point she looks more like Delirium/Delight in disguise. Perhaps it’s Pan (my own character), haunting every painting I do until I finish hers.

A maioria ficaria feliz em desenhar a Morte de Sandman como ela é. Eu? Ah, não, tenho que lhe dar um rosto de menina de bochechas rosadas e adoráveis, suaves cachos, no ponto que ela parece muito mais Delírio/Deleite que a Morte. Acho que é a Paon (minha personagem) assombrando cada pintura que faço até que termine a dela.

i started that comic recently, i am finding it enjoyable, although i depend on a classmate as a source for the books. i love your rendition of this character, and i find your writing charming as well.

Long answer: Despite all the evidences suggesting the contrary, I'm writing a book. I intend to publish excepts accompained by speedpaints on my Tumblr blog , however, since I have yet to finish the first draft and the manuscript should be revised at least twice to become palatable... I can say it'll take quite a while.

great, i'm new to tumblr so i think i followed you. Mighta just.. you know, sent you spam or something. i'm casually interested in becoming a writer/illustrator, myself, though i honestly suck at self motivation and get stuck way too easily.

I'm a lousy writer. I can perhaps advise from a reader point of view, but the writer me is still a toddler. You'd be better taking a look at writing communities like the subreddit /writing, the Mythic Scribes forum and such. You don't need to participate if you're shy, just lurking around is already benefic.

Well, motivation is somehow personal. You need to discover what makes you want to draw/keep your focus. Music is a common one, looking at great artwork is another. I do both. Some people also feel motivated to draw after reading a book or watching movies.

I'm curious about who she reminds you, for I don't know who she might look like. My random portraits tend to slip into familiar faces. It's not on purpose, and not due references—I rarely use them. It simply happens, and I have to actively change a portrait's direction every time I notice this phenomena, haha.

She reminds me of a Chinese actress, Xun Zhou - you can see her face here : people.mtime.com/923645/ .

Faces you've seen could have influenced your portraits. I suppose that's how past experience plays a role in one's current thoughts and experience. There's nothing wrong about it.

I don't know her, but wow, the color scheme and lip/nose are really similar in her profile photo! Thanks for the catch! That's amusing because I only used these colors for being under influence of another WIP of mine (the same girl from my avatar).

When I try to identify this face it's a chilean actress that comes to my mind for her look alike. Unfortunately I don't know her name. If I remember her right, her eyes and face shape are similar, but the complexion might be off—rather the opposite of Xun Zhou's case.

Thanks! I think it's the colors and the choker—this close, it was the only way I found to display the Ankh pendant. Mathilda deals with something similar (death), but somehow her world view is very different from Death's.
