Description saw this kid wandering around the village as I hiked my way down in to the valley. He looked lost. I thought I'd say hi, he stared at me funny, but hell I hit the shutter anyway. should have shot a vertical frame, was in a hurry cause i was nervous of his parents might come out and accuse me of harassing young kids...oO but i bet his parents are out at the time working either on the farm or selling stuffs at the market.

In this kind of environment, I think young kids are being nurtured by the tradition and by the culture around them more so than of their parents' love. I think the bond between children and parents is less than the bond they share as a community. The reason why i think so is that the children are conditioned and grounded in to this traditional environment where they are forced to live/play/adapt on their own. What they see is what they are reacting to. What they see are the cultures and the traditions setting out the everyday life. The daily life consists of wake up early in the morning, work and home. They will grow up and do just that.

should of focus on the kid's face more, the open space doesn't say much... in fact it distracts you from the powerful emotions radiating from the kid.
still, a haunting and powerful image

btw, what happen to his face? seems out of focus?

Paragraph 1:
Nicely cropped. Nothing bad at all with the missing toe, as his shadow completes it all mostly very well. Nothing bad about shooting this horizontally either, as i don't feel that there's hesitation nor rush to it, although basing on this shot, i kinda feel it'll look somewhat awkward in vertical portrait style.

Paragraph 2:
Donald Trump once said in The Apprentice: "Is streetsmart better, or is booksmart smarter?" This piece sort of shows that a nation built from streetsmart locals can still thrive on its own based from doing what they've done for centuries, building rocks from sand, falling and rising up again, all from young.

Paragraph 3:
"What they see is what they are reacting to." What he sees looking at you as an outsider even though of the same blood, kinda makes that quote quirky.. Kinda like a small hint of your ever famous

You cut his foot off! What were you thinking?

I like this though. The composition of including a shadow really boosts the whole idea of being lost. What did you do to edit this... it seems different than other work.

I love the composition, and think the horizontal orientation with empty space really works for it. Its a shame that you cut the kids toes off, but even so its a powerfull and emotional image

As interesting for the image as it is for your own reflections about it; captivating, wide-awake stuff, beautifully done.
