Description My take on Scyther. I went down the more bug route (prob not the most interesting take. check out Arvalis for some saurian awesomeness! ) I kind of thought of it as a bug specimen.

J'adore !

Le choix du sujet (Insécateur, la classe), la représentation réaliste, renforcés par la posture encyclopédique. le tous servi avec un putain de coup de crayon...

Juste parfait.

Wow, this is an impressing version of scyther! I also like the way you drew it because it looks like a drawing a scientist would do of a new species .

Best Scyther I've seen too. It's less "fantastic" and more... stimulating? If that makes sense.

thank you, i'm glad you think so! I wanted to go down more of a entomological study of the scyther.

Ohhh epic combination of insect and dinosaur, the morph works very well in my opinion. Colours and style also go very vell with the idea. Still, there is one thing that really bothers me: The front legs, especially the last part of them (blades). They seem to have no joints to use them properly. Imagine when it catches prey or folds up its blades - it would probably hurt itself.

No doubt you did a lot of research and I mean no harm by this, but please look at this picture of a green mantis [link] (just trying to visualize what I just said)

Now I secretly wish you would do more realistic bug types, because they are my favourite pokemon type by far and you seem like someone who could actually tackle them hehe^^'

thanks! No offense taken, I know exactly what you mean! But i decided early on in my sketches that I would have to loose some of the mantis anatomy in order to keep the Scyther sensibility (large blades) I thought its arms would sit out in front of it, more dinosaur like, as apposed to folding up and hugging it's chest. I entertained the idea of doing a bug pokemon as my next one but you never know, something else may spark my interest. Thanks again!

Aw man, I love this. Definitely one of my top two favorites, probably most favorite, out of the scyther realistics I've seen.

No problem!
I think you really did well with the bug aspect of scyther. I've been dying to see a really good mantis version of it, but this is the only one I think that nailed that mix between reptile and insect. And those colors - beautiful!

HECK. YES.

Love how you posed him as a specimen. Looks very much like what you would find in an entomology field guide. My favorite rendition of Scyther!

Thanks, that means a lot. I just couldn't picture him in any other way, I love those entomological guides and figured scyther would be a perfect fit.
