Description
The Hood has been one of my favorite villains since I first read him during Dark Reign, and to me he's one villain that really stands out because his character is so thoroughly constructed. Apart from that, he is so visually appealing so I just had to draw him!

The cloak was the part that I obviously spent most of my time in, and I took about a week planning and trying new stuff, erasing, then trying again with it. I wanted the cape to look as natural as possible, and I wanted it to just engulf Robbins' body to make it look like it has a life of its own (which it actually kind of does!). I finally got the combination I wanted after a series of tries, and I just love how the crimson shade just bleeds all over the piece, giving the cloak itself its own character and providing that essential wow factor.

Parker Robbins is just an ordinary guy, so it was fairly easy drawing civilian clothes he always wears when around around with his gang of criminals. The shading had to be perfect for this particular piece, especially since I wanted his face to be covered in shadow thanks to his hood. I feel that gives him an even more mysterious look, and to top it off I added red smoky eyes to add a little bit more evil to his expression since you can't see his face.

The Hood is a fairly new character, but he's such an appealing one because he's just as ordinary as anyone else who just happened to stumble upon immense power. All he wants is to provide for his family, but he just can't seem to get out of the hole he dug himself in, and that to me is what makes him stand out from the rest. It's nice to know Marvel can still churn out great villains like The Hood, and despite all the bad ideas they've come up with lately (ahem Bendis), it's good that there are still a few that are worth praising.
