Description By Vincent T Joachim
Website: [link]

In March 1999, gas prices doubled in Ecuador and mass protest erupted throughout the country as a result. The citizens employed a successful protest technique by digging trenches in the road and lighting tires on fire. It brought the countries economy to a standstill and the govenment was forced to compromise.

This scene shows street kids in the middle of the chaos.

I am doing a school project on the topic of "lost voices" for my university class and am required to make a digital story using photos as long as I am able to gain permission. Would you allow me to use this photo?

But, it has it now, and it is one great shot. : )

It looks a bit like a barrier too between the grown ups on the one side and the children on the other side
whatever we do wrong, children are always the once suffering... it is a shame how little most people seem to care...

Very touching. Brought tears to my eyes. I have 3 children and I can't imagine how it must feel as a parent to see your kids going through that. The child on the left even looks like my son.

Thanks for this amazing capture.

This made me want to be there for the kids... hug them, say it's going to be alright... I felt sad that I couldn't do that. It hurts that I just have to sit back and look at this picture, know I cannot do anything for anyone in the scene.

It is a very good picture.
