The way he looks right past the person that is standing there is ghostly, painful. Haunting is the proper word I believe. He just looks hurt and vulnerable. Love.

He does still look like Severus to me too. Yes, he looks a little more innocent, but he would have been at this point. And he does look much younger here, perhaps 8 or 9. You did a great job on both pictures.

Thank you. Actually I would have prefered a more angry expression for him here. But it was really difficult to convey it without making him older. Well, then innocence, yes... mmmh, BTW what I love too in the chapter 33 is that the little Sev is at the same time such a shy and touching child and a sly one - with Lily he is a poor angel, but towards Tuney he does show bad instincts or learnt wrong reactions. It's great...

It is great. You get to see the little survivor in him already. My theory on Severus is that his heart is abnormally sensitive and soft and because of this the ugly dark things in the world tend to wound him more deeply than they might a different sort of child. Also due to this, he learned at a very young age to protect himself. Being a child and having little to know guidance, all he could do was go on instinct.
I think it was during this time that he learned to perform Leglimency and Occlumency, as I have said, and also learned to have a hunger for power. If one is powerful then no one can get the upper hand (or at least that is how a child tends to think). As a child, I think that Severus was willing to do almost anything to avoid feeling powerless...

I totally agree and always thought the same. He's clearly a very sensitive child and knowing how deeply he's vulnerable, he tried to become stronger and powerful. He hoped he could become truly hard-hearted, receiving the dark mark, and hoped his heart will no more hurt if he hides, denies its existence...It's a mask, the Death Eater mask, but it's also an armor. It's a trap and an illusion, but it's his more powerful weapon during all his life...Yeah, poor little thing...

He does look younger now...but I personally think he looks like Severus. People just don't look the same as kids as they do adults. I think you're doing well. : ) Just keepp at it...practice practice practice :grin:

I went back to your previous picture and was clicking back and forth for a while. He definitely looks younger now. His face has more of a heart shape to it, and his nose doesn't have the prominent hump. Now he looks like a kid! Good job!

I think the nose is right. As someone else pointed out, big-nosed adults generally have a much tamer version of their nose when they are children. I know THIS first-hand. I don't think his chin would be so heart-shaped, though. Yes, it makes him look more like a child, but I think that's probably where he looks less Snapish. Maybe more of a rounded chin instead of a heart-shape?
