How beautiful! May I ask you how you did the hair? I'm curious.

Mostly I just used the smudge tool set to about 85%. I also drew in some strands with the regular paintbrush tool at about 5 pixels wide. And lastly I used both burn and dodge (set to about 40%-75%) to add more highlights and shadows. Every so often I would use the smudge tool to lightly blend the edges.
Oh, and when I draw hair, I always use a separate layer until I have it looking just right.

Yup, I thought the same after it was done and posted. And trust me, it is HARD for me to let go of bright intense colors and go soft on an image. Her hair was soooooooooo coppery, but it really overwhelmed the piece so desaturated it went.

I can TOTALLY understand about how difficult it was to give up the bright colors--but it was definitely the right choice here. Redheads are THE BEST--but they CAN overwhelm a pice pretty easily!
