Description Pointless therapy art.

I'm not a tactile person, but neither's this guy.

This really looks like a great image! It kind of reminds me of the John Silver and Jim Hawkings moment in Treasure Planet, where even the most greediest and cunning pirate was shown to have a conscience. Jim looked up to Silver as a father figure, and Silver chose to save a friend's life over his life's goal. This makes me imagine that Hook came across a young boy who managed to escape from Pan, and Hook decided to use this boy in order to finally get revenge on Peter Pan. However, Hook grows a strong father-son bond with the boy and now refuses to use him for anything.

Another alternate thought is that this is an alternate drawing of Killian Jones and young Baelfire from Once Upon a Time.

Heh, I like this. You have captured the good captain perfectly I think. I love the purple colouring, too. It conveys the mood really well.

I love the emotion in this image, and the mood. Therapy art is a very good thing, and sometimes brings out the best designs just in venting a pent up emotion.

I offer hugs to you as well, because hugs are happy.

Yep, Jas is almost Edward Scissorhands.
What's your definition of therapy art?

Therapy art...hum. To me, therapy art is any work I do to serve an emotional purpose for myself, to fill a gap or try and exorcise personal demons. This one for example... I was feeling low, undefended, nothing to hold on to. So I drew myself holding onto something.

I have a fair few far less cute and more bloody pieces of therapy art, but those, for some reason, I tend not to share with the world!

Excellent, that's my defininition of therapy art as well. Fill a gap or exorcise personal demons. Although I didn't know there was such a term, "therapy art".

Jas is always there for me. Mmmmm, almost always. When I am rejected he just hides in his hole and doesn't utter a word. He's not that powerful, you know...
Bloody pieces? What do you do, stab the people who hurt you? '

I would love to meet your Jas and see how he differs from mine.
Mine tends to suffer a lot when I'm unhappy. He drinks himself into depression.

And...er, yes. How did you guess? Only not so much stab as rip, claw and tear. I have some very ugly sketches somewhere...

Ah, I haven't completed my Jas fic yet, it's been waiting for years to be completed but...
My Jas drinks whenever he wants, but when I'm really suffering he either collapses and cries his heart out (like a kid) or gathers all my other imaginary friends (Claude Frollo, Lucius, Antonio Salieri, Sherlock Holmes, Jareth) and starts screaming at them "Brimstone and gall, why are you just sitting there, people? She's suffering, do something about it!" He carries me with the help of others, he's usually the strongest one, he shakes me, gives me a slap or two in the face to help me come to my senses. It doesn't always work... Reality can be so much stronger than Jas.
I once did a sketch of my alter ego (the waitress) stabbing a knight (the guy I fancied but who -I found out- had a girlfriend) with a huge sword, and him spitting blood in surprise. But that was all I ever did.

Sounds very familiar. Ain't that what imaginary friends are for? Heh, you have a Holmes too. Nice guy, if you keep him off the cocaine. I think I've had one of him around since I was about 14.

ElenaTria In reply to vladimirsangel [2007-11-18 18:44:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. But... lately I try to think of any beautiful man so as to get inspired but I've run out of "friends" it seems. Whatsa matter with me?
I don't mind Holmes' cocaine, it gives him an aura of mystery, decadence and self-destruction that suits him well. He, the quintessence of reason, cannot control himself. I think I first liked him when I saw the Jeremy Brett series, I must have been in primary school. (and if you want to keep him off the cocaine, just put Irene Adler next to him... )

Tactile is good at times. The problem is, some people don't seem to know when that is and they TOUCH YOU AHHGOD.

I know, right? I've had people put their hands on me, complete strangers at work no less! I had to tell him specifically that "I do not like to be touched."

Weirdos.

That's a strong hug. I guess I've had to become more tactile than I used to be, cos my family doesn't hug at all and I've had to teach myself to be comfy about it. It's very well drawn, feels real. Does it help?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vladimirsangel In reply to Farthingale [2007-08-23 18:45:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah....I think being tactile is something you have to work at if you're not naturally the sort of person who flings themselves at casual acquaintances as if they're long-lost brothers. I have a lot of trendy friends who "air-kiss". Never managed to pull it off, myself. It's just plain weird.

And it's about as real as it gets, in my world. Yes, it does help. It always helps. Makes me feel safer, if that doesn't sound too crazy.
