Description Ok enough WWII stuff for now...

....now for something of a serious danger for us all...

.....

...

..

......Yes I'm talking Zombies.

Behold my AK47 (God I love living in Montana) with bayonet lug, forward grip and the works.

Mounted on it is my strange 75 round magazine obscenity that is great at the range but looks a little silly, and my 75 rnd drum mag that is just to annoying to load.

As you guess I like bad guy weapons and growing up , this was the baddest of the bad guy guns.

This is the only gun I own that has never glitched, misfired, stovepiped or fail to fire. Internally it has been optimized with superior American made parts and is awesome just to state a fact.

You got Zombies? I'm the guy you want in your bunker on Z-day..

Awesome AK. I'll do pretty good on "Z-day" myself:    , but twice as more important than having a firearm is having plenty of ammo to feed said firearm and believe me, I might not have as many guns as some firearms enthusiasts, but I do have a stockpile of ammo of 18,000 rounds high.

Even still the gun is still awesome, and I'd love to own one some day including an SKS carbine.

If I'm correct this is a AKM not a AK-47. You can distinctively tell by the gas compensator in the front and the fact that the rectangle that is seen below the bolt and bolt carrier right behind the grip is absent. However if the internal parts match up with a AK-47's and not a AKM's then you have a AK-47 that doesn't like a AK-47.

How much is this gun? I would like to buy a Zastava m70, someday.

The AK47 cost me $400 and came with a 30rnd magazine, The upgraded internal parts, forward handgrip and sling adds another $100. The 75 rnd drum mag was like $80 and the 75rnd banana clip was about $50. The bayonet was like $10.

So it cost me about $640 as shown but a basic setup is as I said about $400 in the US.

I just saw an AK set up like the Zastava m70 with MP40 style underfolding stock at the gunshow last week for about $400 but I don't how AK's perform with folding stocks.

Basically any AK is going to be between 1/3-1/2 the cost of an AR15, but you get what you pay for. If accuracy is your goal the AK is not the best choice, and it can't be customized as well as an AR15, but it's a good inexpensive rifle.

Is this AK full auto? I think that underfolder AKs are simple, you just move the stock like an Mp40 but without the button.

No my AK is semi-auto....but I know how to bump fire. (look up "bump fire" on you tube if you never heard that)

I don't like underfolders because they wobble, and reduce the already poor accuracy of the AK design. If you really need a folding stock, I've found side folders more stable in practical use.

Your not planning to jump out as a paratrooper, a solid stock is the best choice for infantry...yes folding looks cooler, but I want practical over cool when it comes to my life.

I think you should look at the XCR, configure it as a AR or AK or even 6mm or whatever you want. It's expensive but seems to fulfill your needs.

Ive seen one. But is it enough to be imitating full auto fire? Which is better, Beryl or Zastava m70? Also, theres a magazine of 100 rds [link]
Whenever it comes to side folders, I like the Galil ARM and the Beryl for that. Also i heard ACR from my classmate, from the call of duty mW2. However as for .308s , i still like FN FAL.

vonmeer In reply to kfirpanther3 [2010-03-21 16:31:46 +0000 UTC]

I actually think semi-auto is better for civilian style fighting where you need to supply your own weapon, and I can pull the trigger almost as fast as many full auto guns.

The US army uses 3round bursts, as greater fire control gets more hits. I'm not sure which is better, a Beryl or Zastava..both have good recommendations and are better than the Soviet AK47s.

For real combat, I'd prefer a more modern optimized weapon than a Galil, but you have to choose whats available.

FN FAL is a great gun, I'd take one over my CETME anyday...but I'd choose my DPMS LR308 over a FN FAL as the DPMS has one of the best records for accuracy, has more options and has a much smaller body allowing it to be used like an M4 basically.

The ACR was an experiment from colt, don't expect to see them. The ACR (Advanced Combat Rifle) project is not cost effective to produce.

But i still prefer Full auto, especially when the battlefield is Urban, in Buildings. And one of myfave rifles the the Valmet m62. And nice gun vonmeer, Im happy to talk with a gun owner. have you seen a Statue of Liberty holding an AK (likely 74m) instead of a torch?

vonmeer In reply to kfirpanther3 [2010-03-21 17:15:29 +0000 UTC]

Great choice! The Valmet m62 is a semi-auto civilian AK variant that is one of the most accurate AK's ever made.

They make an extremely cool gun, an AK action based 30-06, yes a 30-06!!!! [link] thats the Valmet Petra, I'd mod it out with a military stock but the power of a 30-06 makes 308 guns look like 9mm's.

I like Finnish guns, the Fins fighting off the Soviets all those years made them pretty practical when it comes to gun design.

LoL, break in's in Montana? No one would break into my home, Montana has a "castle doctrine" making it legal to kill intruders. I'd never risk my wifes safety to allow an intruder to live.

I keep a loaded 44.magnum to a bedholster, and two loaded shotguns in my bedroom (one for me and another for the wife). The only people out here who are crazy enough to do a break in is a methhead who most likely wants to harm you too. Better to just shoot them first.

My house is safe from humans and zombies alike

Is Your AK Russian/Soviet built ? As far as I know this weapon, only Hungarian and Romanian AK-47 had such front hold near barrel.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vonmeer In reply to RTJDudek [2010-03-18 20:23:36 +0000 UTC]

It's Romanian, Russian ones are hard to get and often pretty beat up and expensive.

It originally did not have the forward grip, I installed it myself and it really makes it more fun to shoot.

I must admit, it's an exceptional short range weapon. Ive shot thousands of rounds without ever it misfiring.

Its so evil looking, it's cool.
