Description Full View, Now! plz....

this is Aki, *marykonoha 's charater, and Glyfph, my charater, playing in a fantasy dream world... this is my part of a trade with *marykonoha , she drew this lovely pic for me: [link]

i put WAY more effort into this pic than i had to.... oh well....

right now, i think this is the limits of my artistic abilities... which is why I'm asking for critique, so please critique! i want to know what I'm doing wrong so i can improve...

Time: i lost track... uhmm... took me about a week...
Inspiration: art trade with *marykonoha and a dream i had...
done in April of 2009 with Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop CS2 on a drawing tablet

omgsh! thank you for critiquing! everything you said was right on!

I'll admit, the grass did turn out a bit too fuzzy... though, Glyfph's tail (the one you were talking about) is supposed to split near the end like that... he's a weird character (he's also got antenna lol you'd probably have to download it to see them), sorry if i confused you...

ah i knew something about the tree was a bit off... thanks for noticing that!

lol I figured the tail was intentional ^^ But I wasn't too sure and since it's a hundred word minimum that added some words lol XD jk I was glad to do it ^^

Small details like the tree can often be over looked. lol *raises hand* Guilty!

Yeah. They won't let you post unless you have a minumum of 100 words. It's a good thing really. Other wise you'd get critiques saying, "Good job" XD

Yep! Like in this one early Renaissance painting I was looking at by Jan van Eyck. He was a very well known artist and in one of his portrait he forgot to add the dog's refection in the mirror! It was a very small mirror in the background though XD

First thing I noticed ... the tree. I am in love with that tree. Wanna know why? Because I suck at perspective like that! XD But you did it PERFECTLY!!! *catches a falling leaf*

Now on to the rest of the picture (bye bye tree ... X3). I LOVE IT. That could be all I have to say, but that'd be a pretty boring comment. I adore the poses on both the characters ... Vox's little playful pose and Glyfph's entranced expression ... it just feels alive to me (yeah, that probably sounded weird XD). What I find really weird, but really interesting is that this is a fantasy dream world they're playing in ... but it looks so much like mine! XD Simple hills, starry skies, tiny glowing things floating around (I assume they're fireflies, but in a fantasy world they could be anything~) ... now all it needs are dandelions and it would be one of my favorite worlds in my head! XD By the way, the lighting in the background is captivating. OwO

I love this picture too much. I'm faving it. And I'm very picky with my faves ... you have been honored. XD

Hahhaa, lol i know how that is... perspective is freaking annoying... i only got this one semi right, cause there's a tree in my back yard that is bent down like that... like it's about to fall... and it's right out my window... so i decided to draw it lol xD

You worked on this at my house!

It looks amazing! I love the dream-like quality it has overall--like the border of wallpaper in a child's bedroom. The lighting is pretty amazing. You've captured a twilit moment and made it seem magical and otherworldly.

However, did you intend for that faint image of the third fox to be sitting there? I noticed that you deleted that one while you were working on this piece at my house, but it's still visible in full view, kind of like a ghost image.

my verdict? ^^ two thumbs up!!
this whole pic has such a surreal and dream like feel...it was a great idea to mess up the perspectives of the pic too...made it look like a blend between reality and fantasy

Coloring was as good as you would ususally do...oh, and the poses were probably the cutest part XD It's a cute idea...two foxes star gazing on their backs...you never seem short on ideas do you? ^^

lol, well actually, the perspective is actually a real mistake... but whatever... if it works then I'm happy lol xD

thanks! though, i actually did put a little more into this one.. there's twice as many shadow layers as normal...

lol, i'm pretty satisfied with the poses also, though neither one of them are stargazing... the one on the left is playing with something like a firefly, and the other one is looking at the other one, probably ready to pounce...

hopefully i never run out of ideas lol xD
