Description

I was just playing with Photoshop and making "clickology" - What will be if I'll click this...?
That's what came out. One of many clickologies (previous wolf is also one of them), by the way - I'm trying to learn painting in PS.
I think there should be something under this lamp, but I have no idea, what. Can you, please, help me?
One I can tell - there won't be a fairy. I'm sick of fairies. There's too much of them around me.

!!!COMMENTS PLEASE!!!

Thank you.

Critiques are welcome.

It had to be something like a fairy dust or something. I'm glad it looks like that.
I just didn't know, what to draw around the lamp.

my first thought was a fairy of some kind
but more so a dark mischievous one...
So maybe a winged goblin

So your all faired out huh

yeah I know you can paint in PS and have see some lovely work...but first I think you need to know how (which you do) and second understand PS as a paint brush, although its not like painting as you can undo what you did so you sort of got to think outside the box with it as opposed to paint and canvas
but thats about all I can tell you cause I have not idea of painting truly with either.
one thing I was told the power of PS is in layers and masks...mastering masking with ps can speed up a lot of things you do want to do.

when I do anything in ps I always use lots of layers for each step...that way I can delete or hide it if I dont like what it done.

Yet to master masking techniques thought

"clickology" I like that word
yep...I do a fair bit of that

Vrolok87 In reply to starlight2infinity [2009-04-20 17:36:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, actually almost half of success in painting in PS is using different brushes and changing created ones to another, similar, but different (there is that function in PS - to for example change opacity of some parts of the brush).
Layers... yes, they're gods indeed. But I usually don't use masks. I know how to, but I don't need them.

That, what's more important to me, si how to paint like for example Luis Royo or *Ironshod , or =alexiuss .

Flying goblin... Cool idea!

oh yes brushes agree and opacity works well for me with blending but I an not expert on anything
masks may be more applicable to manipulations but I can see a little of there value in painting with ps
but I dont know enough about them yet...either
Only what I was told by a graphic artist
also so heaps of tuts I found defiantly refer to using masks to accomplish tasks...

I suppose its one of those things once you master them you wonder why you didn't learn before to use them effectively....

like theres the long way to do things and a short way to do things, both get you were you want to go just one takes longer...I suspect that the case with masks when you know how to use the effectively they are great

but I dont know for sure with painting in PS

Oh yes I have seen some of their art beautifully created work...in my dreams I could be that good but yes I think you still have to have the basics of how to paint to be able to do it well...you have...I dont

My friend sent me this clip on YT 14 hours in PS in 4:40 min
its amazing to watch [link]

here another [link]

Use HQ version if you can
I guess you would say these are more photo real art

Humm ok Maybe Flying imp would be better to call it [link] like this...but a way miniature for the lamp

I quite like the lamp as is thought too

I've learnt many things by myself. Only the start was with ~Ar-Ojej-tist , who's a computer graphic and when I started my theatral make-up school, she started the computer graphic school, so she helped me with PS. Then I was making the "clickology". And then I started computer graphic courses, where I've learnt some tricks. That's all. Now I'm learning by myself again, because on courses we had mostly photomanipulations.
So I tried masks and gave up with them. I rarely need them. Of course they're helpful sometimes, but when I usually paint, not make photomanipulations, I don't need them as soon. Because they're mostly to remember, what was that you deleted. And to go back to it if you decide. Because if you delete something from the photo, you won't paint it again.
And when you paint, you know, what you want to p-aint, so you don't need masks.

I'm doing my best to be like tham. But I'm nooot!

Omg! The video, the work is great! Like a photo!
Umm... Yup. I said that.
The Imp is cool too.

starlight2infinity In reply to Vrolok87 [2009-05-08 12:43:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah mostly thats what PS was for, initally anyway photo manipulation, but as you can see a lot can actually paint with it...which for me you got to know how to paint first...which I cant (you can)
(landscaps not complex is about my limit...or was)

Yes I see your point on masks, as I said it something I just want to learn better, oh and true.. that was from someone who is more liable to photo manipulate art graphics or photos, not created it from the ground up.

Yeah I guess when you talk about technique what that person did in the video was very much techniques, if you know how to you can create photo real images..its not far from it but so amazing to watch how it layers up to it.

So I suppose we can judge on technique if it was something a kin to real life we were after
(the artist) or a style that is popular

That person was very skilled I think
(yet the video made it seem so simple)
I have seen some pencil art here on DA that are just so close to a B&W photo...I am amazed

That is really the stuff I have no idea on, either with a brush, pencil or with PS.

yes your "sister" Ar-Ojej-tist I have a bit to catch up of her art too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vrolok87 In reply to starlight2infinity [2009-05-16 12:35:00 +0000 UTC]

Well, pencil drawings, which are like real photo, I also can make, but I prefer coloured works. And they're harder to make like a real ones.

And Wolf (~Ar-Ojej-tist ) told me today that she's gonna submit her falcon soon. I can't wait!

And in Monday we're going to go to cinema to see "Angels & Demons". Also - can't wait. Hyh! I wanted to read it, but couldn't find the Polish version in bookstores, so... bought the original one. I started reading, then I found the Polish version, bought also that, tried to read... and noticed that I prefer reading English version and it's reasier for me. Am I sick?

starlight2infinity In reply to Vrolok87 [2009-05-16 13:51:03 +0000 UTC]

well yeah see you point...you are very good

yeah really haven't had a chance to catch up with her but I'll be looking forward to it too

You I'd like to see that too.

I guess some books dont translate too well
sadly i dont know any other language so cant really comment but I was once told about a German poet I think it was and most all said you need to read the German version to really appreciated it..so I guess sometimes books or rather the flow is like that.
it depend on how well the translation was done to create the same feel I suppose too
but only guessing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vrolok87 In reply to starlight2infinity [2009-05-17 00:06:29 +0000 UTC]

Poetry generally is very hard to translate and it's muct better to read in original. But prose is easier and even translated version can be better than the original one. I've heard "Shrek" (ok, I know, I know it's a movie, but whatever - also translation. ) is much better in Polish than in English. I haven't seen it all, but those parts I've seen in original version are worse indeed, than those "ours".

I actually can read in five languages - Polish, Czech, Slovakian, Russian and English. But only two of them I speak.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

starlight2infinity In reply to Vrolok87 [2009-05-17 02:18:59 +0000 UTC]

5 ...I have trouble with 1
yeah I guess it can be done better with some
but I agree with you on poetry...its something that relies heavy on the language or understanding of it.
To covey the beauty of it.
This, just sometimes you can't translate accurately in terms of another language.
I understand a little of how languages are put together but not much...just enough to know it quite or can be quite different in structure to English.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vrolok87 In reply to starlight2infinity [2009-05-17 23:06:09 +0000 UTC]

Yup. For example Polish is totally different than English in structure. Much harder. Eg. you don't change form of verb in different times or context. But it's only one of many, many differences between our languages.
Or we don't have something like "the" and "a". Or our questions haven't transferred verbs in sentence, but everything is just an intonation.

But anyway, I can speak only two of those languages. The reast I understand good enough to read. And I can also understand more or less Spanish, Latin, Italian... And almost all Slavic languages (it'll be at least 12 languages, but I don't know, how much exactly, because in each of our countries we still have tribes, which speak their own languages. Even in Poland highlanders speak different language than the rest of the country. I don't understand them if they talk between themselves. So I can't understand Kaszub - men in the North of Poland).
But when I've been to Croatia it was easy to talk with people there - I was talking in Polish and they - in their languages - we've been children from maybe all Slavic countries there, especially those, where was the war few years earlier. I remember I was chasing boys with crabs in my hands and they ran with wild squeeze!
Beautiful childhood...

Umm... Can I ask, which language you're trying to learn? Just curious.
And maybe I'm in better situation with languages - I'm a Slav, we have many languages from the same "family", so we can more or less understand each other... If we only don't have to read in our alphabets, because each country has different letters. But I can understand them, 'cuz I know two main alphabeth - latin and slavic (russian). But many Slavs can't read that different alphabet.
And I live in Europe, so I can hear many languages. I don't know if there, where you live (?) you can hear them too...?
Plus I've lived in Paris for two years of my short life, so...
