Ok. After days of work (a week?) it's finally done!
Until now I thought this

is my favourite work of mine. But now... This one is my beloved. And because of that there's a kind of watermark. Or - just my signature. Because I don't agree with Share Links, because it's my fav work and I don't want it to be stolen (with signature it's not as easy
) and generally... I think now I will add some watermarks. Sorry, but...While making this, I used some tutorials. All of them (and some more) you can find here: [link]
And about the title - I called it "Will-o'-the-wisp", because it's a personification of those flames in the swamps, which can lead you right to the death in cold, dark waters.
Kinda Irish, kinda Slavic - those personifications are from Slavic demonology.

This really is very good!! It echoes so many Pan-European myths and legends, crossing time and people everywhen, almost a Universal myth. Love the stylisation and reprise, and at the same time its complete in itself!!

There are a lot of oblique references to this kind of character in a lot of mythologies, from Ireland right across Europe - a lot are getting lost because they are pre-Christian!
Check out the Green Man images on Google, and there are references in legend right through to Tolkien (the Dead Marshes in the Lord of the Ring books) and later.
I never realised how corrupted history can get, and then I read The Historian (Elizabeth Kostova), and talked to the wife of a work-mate of mine (who is Sloakian), the West has a very Hollywoodised view of history. We are too shallow and Americanised over here!

We call them Błędne Ogniki. They shine with their lanterns. And when you go after their lights, hypnotized or thinking you see lights of your village, you get lost in swamps and you die.
I haven't read the Lord of the Rings. I tried, but couldn't.

Looks really good to me. I really like the glowing greens here and how he looks directly at the viewer. Makes me think of the Green Man somehow.

Actually while drawing this I meant Slavic swamp demons and Celtic leprechauns, but Green Man is cool too.
