While visiting the mountains, I also visited my grandma, that was a bit sick and needed some cheering up. So I drew her favorite fish the Arctic char (Fjällröding). I din't have much time, nor my best drawing materials available. About a 1-1 1/2 hours of work, with graphite and some colored pencils that was lying in my backpack. I also had no scanner, so I could just photograph the picture.I'm pleased with the result for that kind of time frame and materials available. But the most important thing is that it made grandma happy.

I love the colour against the charcoal background. The details you put into the fish are great too! Did you use a reference?

I did use reference, and I had some dedicated fishers around me to give feedback on some details, like if it really had a golden tone or if that was just the photo.
But it is soft graphite, not charcoal in the background.
