Ah, the good old Giant Claw a monster so silly looking its been said one of the actors from the movie left the theater it was showing in from embarrassment due to how much the audience was laughing their asses off, went home and got drunk as shit. If only they had gotten Ray Harryhausen like they originally wanted. Then again this bird has given so much joy to the world thanks to its goofy appearance.

Actually the film makers had no idea what the bird would look like, they wanted to hire Ray to design the creature since he was considered to be on of the best creature designers/stop motion artists in the biz at the time. Unfortunately Ray wasn't available so they hired some random guys from (I think) Mexico and just asked them to make a monster bird. In fact the scenes with the bird were shot last and no one on the cast and crew knew what it looked like. By the time the director saw what those guys had made, more than half the movie was shot so they couldn't bail out. I heard a rumor once that the people who made the bird made it look goofy on purpose as a joke, but its just a rumor.
