I think this was done in 2004. This is one of those drawings where I really was just sketching and fooling around. Y'know ... just was drawing a girl elf head and shoulders for fun. Then I just decided to finish off the rest of her body ....give her a weapon and shield ... then decided to go ahead and fill in a rough "suggestion" of a background. After that, figured I might as well color it. Threw it in the copy machine, capied it dark and took my prisma color markers to it. This is the end result. One thing I ought to mention is why I drew this elf the way I did. I had just finish reading some post on some message board where these girls were talking about fantasy art. They were making fun of how us guys just draw big breasted elf women running around in chainmail bikinis. So I drew this elf girl to say, "nope, not always ...... "Related content

I think it's awesome. I always liked seeing women in practical armor because it is actually supposed to be useful and not chainmail bikini even though it is sexy

this is great, she reminds me of my Dark Elf. Her name is Melissa Raven, and she is a Spell-Sword, and she is part of my story on another site. she also wears good armor that makes since.

It's okay that you've posted it on your site, because you still credit me. Sorry I didn't have a larger image. The original file (the larger one) has been lost unfortunately. If I ever recover the data or find another larger copy of the file, I'll repost it. Chances look slim though.

Love it and even more so for the comment you mentioned. Once I feel confident enough to draw like this/using illustrator/photoshop, I will be intentionally keeping my women fully clothed/in elegant clothing that may show some skin but nothing crazy. Good on you for going against the grain.

It's not always a popular choice, but it's just my way. There is indeed a place for sexy outfits for certain genres and characters. I'm totally all for that.

I really like this piece. I'm also very impressed with the idea behind it. I wish other artists would draw women like you do. After all, armor is supposed to be functional and attractive, but not just attractive.

Yeah, I would love to load up a bigger version of this pic, but unfortnately the only size file I had laying around was this one. I had lost the original scan on my old computer and lost the actual original physical art during a move. This version is the only one I have. Hopefully some day I'll find the original art again and re-scan it.

Yes, you're right. Girls in fantsy pics often wear improbable armors that let the stomach or the legs open (they shouldn't resist five minutes in a battle)... it's a sexy mistery.

Thats a really great picture, the armour, shield, it really works well and it's got a natural pose (considering ive tought people swordfighting for a long time).
Ive also had those discussions with plenty of girls and guys about the nude with chainmail, and i always point out that the Celts fought naked, man and woman, because it makes you faster, more agile and you have more control. Armours great for a big battle when some idiot stabs you by accident on your own side and craps flying everywhere, but it also has it's hinderances, besides which ive seen plenty of men and women get distracted when they fought a girl with a big chest, when those boobies start bouncing it becomes hypnotic lol
anyway, really like this picture dude, and i'm working on a similer theame at the moment in a comic, so nice to meet ya

Very nice. A few dead bodies lying around would be nicer. I can't do anything like this because I HAVE NO SCANNER!! But that's not stopping me! People say I do pretty well with MS Paint. You should go see my gallery. I'm adding this one to favorites.

nicely done and so well colored! i think it was a wise choice to leave the backgroud faded as it is, it brings more focus to the character and makes a nice simple composition. I really like the bg actualy.
I would love to try markers some day, i always love the result when i see stuff colored in markers...
