I wanted some historical looking gaiters for steampunk-ish costume fun.
These are made of light khaki twill, and button up both sides with metal shank buttons. I drafted the pattern myself so they are a little odd looking, I'm afraid. These are the only shoes I have that look good with them so I don't wear them much.

I personnally think they're really nice !... Maybe you find them odd because they're not adjusted "tightly" to your legs, but for me it's original and really classy

I am not sure what is not to like. They look fine. You tried something new and they look fine. Of your worried about shifting and have not put a ribbon or elastic on it to anchor them that is 5 mins of work. Best of all is you can now make them and work out your kinks that your not happy with. Its a beautiful thing.

Nah, it's not that... it's just that the front seam seems to sit a little funny, which you can't really see in the picture...

well if your worried about a funny seam then try 'tacking' the portion with some easy to whip stich hook and eyes. easy to get, quick to instal, and tends not to be bothersome during wear, just make sure to turn the hook towards you since that is where the pressure of the fabric will pull from.
