Description I may regret this later, but I was inspired to give FMP a worthy foe.

Long had the likes of and boasted that they would mount an armed resistance to the FMP escalating, mechanized, maidifying juggernaut, and it occurred to me that such a force would give me an excuse to draw twice as much complicated junk. (Plus it would provide a use for the recently invented high heeled combat boot! [link] )

Actually, this started for me when I realized that FMP has no close air support to protect its mobile armor and (eventual) infantry.

Most airborne Seekers are only fast enough to run down lithe, athletic co-eds ; and the fast, high altitude models don't have the armament or maneuverability to to be of any real assistance to TTS's, SPECIALs or even the under development Slingers* if they come under fire from on high.

A small, low-altitude jet could outpace the roving Class A's in an area of engagement, and wreak utter havoc upon FMP's various land vehicles. It could even fire off a salvo of anti-tank rockets, and pop open a Special like a champaign cork before ever entering its AER.**

At that point, I just had to come up with the ground attack jet that could create that carnage.

I'm thinking of calling it a Mongoose. Basically, it's A-10 components rearranged with an FA-18 style wing fairing, a fancy "Y" tail, and it's tank-killing main gun moved to its center of gravity for no reason in particular. I'm hoping the kit-bash results in something that at least looks like it can kill tanks.

I have no idea just yet what to call the military organization*** who stands to oppose FMP. I just know that all their troops, like the one pictured here, promise to look great in maid uniforms.

In case you're curious, the weapon the soldier is carrying fires high frequency bursts of answerless Sartreian conundrums, as read by William Shatner. A two-second burst is enough to destroy most loping, accordion-limbed fishbowl headed sci-fi robots.

A worthy foe indeed.

*That one made you curious, didn't it?

**AER
Amorous Effect Radius.

***I'm considering AMAZON Anti Maidification Army for the Zealous Obliteration of Nomad. But suggestions, as always, are welcome.

The supreme commander of AMAZON is the esteemed Marshal Braidy, one of the few women ever to escape robot captivity.

Despite her daring escape, and continued resistance of robotic will, Braidy still carriesΒ  scars of her long captivity; most notably the square scar on her forehead from which she tore off her malfunctioning mind control chip before it could be reactivated or repaired, and her maids uniform, which, without advanced Benefactor technology, can never be removed!!!

Good choices for one who wants to fight the Fremps.

Sadly, the space branch was captured en masse, when MASA sent false overtures for a possible alliance, which turned out to be a massive trap.

The Mystic Branch, is not allowed to fight, since the teleportation provided by their War Magi are now AMAZON's chief means of interplanetary travel.

Ultimate Zone! It's the zone (for bishojo) between the end of a skirt and the start of a the socks.

Grade A - Thigh high socks
Grade B - Over knee sock
Grade C - High socks
Grade D - Three quarter socks
Grade E - Crew socks
and ankle socks are an instant Grade F.

more info here : [link]

Apparently, Zettai Ryouiki is not just about running around with a thigh high socks, we have a draconian rule to adhere. As given, the golden ratio of ultimate Zettai Ryouiki is 4:1:2.5 (length of skirt : zettai ryouiki : length of socks above knee) and the acceptable margin for error is Β±25οΌ….

β€œMemorizing this formula is as important as knowing that Ο€ = 3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510 or 22/7.” – ADD
β€œThe ratios are generally off because it is thought that the ultimate zettai ryouiki would generate so much moΓ© that the equivalent energy would be enough to vaporize the planet.” – DarkMirage

All i know is that practices Zettai ryouiki in real life, at least a grade C

Possible idea for the engines: Take a page from Gnomish tinkers and increase the complexity of the engines to solve the landing height problem: Make them able to swing down to cruise position, and swing up for takeoff, landing, and storage.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

we-r-nomad In reply to Pirtnac [2009-02-22 01:12:37 +0000 UTC]

Gnomish Tinkerers. Or Cobra!

I know, I know. You mean having the Mongoose swing its engines along the "roll" axis, were as Cobra's Rattler engines swung along the "pitch" axis to provide VTOL flight. And your roll axis idea is a good one!

First, it save me the agony of scrapping the whole Mongoose concept. Second, the additional moving parts add texture to the tale.

The story of the Mongoose's war record could have the additional travail of mechanical difficultly, caused by the fact that the machine has to reposition its engines in order to land properly.

Pilots could complain of having to ditch on their final approaches.

After flying low and slow loitering missions through swarms of marauding RTD's the mechanisms that raise the engine nacelles could become gummed up with restraint tape, and unable to function properly. This difficulty would necessitate the design of a less cumbersome attack jet, but for the early stages of the conflict, AMAZON would make due with the venerable Mongoose.

One more thing this scenario brings to mind. Even when Mongooses land successfully, they have to have the FTD's carefully picked off their fuselages by women in CAT suits, (Powered armor. Haven't made up what the acronym CAT means yet.) Lest they spring to life and suddenly mummify members of the unsuspecting ground crew.

Of course there would be no Seekers around to abduct the mummified maidens on AMAZON forward air bases, but aircraft maintenance would still be stalled for the time it would take to douse the grease monkeys in hypo-allergenic solvent.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pirtnac In reply to we-r-nomad [2009-02-23 21:02:59 +0000 UTC]

I certainly agree that pilots may be hesitant to eject into the fray... Hopefully RTD's know not to aim for parachutes.

Personally, I'd love to see the scenario that lead the AMAZON forces to develop the CAT suits. Countermeasure: Anti-Tape perhaps? The suit might have to be a different version from the front line powered armor, as THOSE suits seem to be designed to rip machines to shreds... Certainly a bad choice for delicate technical work. Could always try baby powder, pressure formed into plating like a stick of chalk. Any tape trying to stick to it would get gummed up, allowing for easier removal (and leaving behind a damsel-shaped white silhouette on the cut away tape).

Actually, hold the phone here... Perhaps the RTD removal crew doesn't need to be a troupe of powered armor wearing, machine crushing elites. The ladies could be the new recruits, people on disciplinary duty, etc. Dressed in the equivalent of a powder puff and literally tossed at the landed aircraft until the RTDs are empty, then cut out and sent to the next waiting craft, while it's pilot waits for her chance to leave the cockpit without being mummified.

At the very least, all the recruits will be conditioned to panic far less when they make it to the combat zones.

we-r-nomad In reply to Pirtnac [2009-02-24 01:01:50 +0000 UTC]

I don't know where to begin addressing the stark brilliance of this last note of yours.

First, I imagine RTD's wouldn't go after parachutes, but they, and the Class A's that launched them, would probably have a field day with the dangling pilots.

Eventually, I am going to have to design some manner of AMAZON attack jet that can pluck parachuting pilots, free-falling Damsel Drums and disabled HOST's out of the air.

Such a vehicle would most likely carry an economy sized Neurosys Gun (Standard 'bot brain frying illogic projector.) to disable FMP's recruitment aids, and some form of mechanical arms to grapple the falling vehicles or containers.

I imagine, it will probably resemble a Macross Valkyrie fighter in Gerwalk Mode. Thinking about calling it a "Pit Bull" as it would be AMAZON's chief dog fighter.

Now regarding the CAT suits. Kite-san had suggested it stand for Chaotic Algorithm Transmission in honor of its internal Neurosys Guns, and I was going to throw in Single Occupant Operations Truss, for good measure; but I gotta say, your brilliant but simple suggestion of Countermeasure: Anti-Tape, brings it all right back to the situation at hand.

Countermeasure: Anti-Tape Single Occupant Operations Truss it is.

CAT SOOT*

I love, repeat love your suggestion of lining AMAZON assets with pressure formed powder! That sound just like what an on-the-ball military organization would do under such circumstances. A simple, relatively inexpensive countermeasure to deal with an unavoidable problem. Sort of AMAZON's version of reactive armor.

The use of recruits to do RTD cleaning as a futuristic analogue to "KP." Is yet another inspired idea. Among is more obvious merits, it contains another excuse for me to draw tied up girls.

CAT SOOT Hmmm, what if I called it a Single Unit Infantry Truss? Then I could spell it normally: CAT SUIT!

Glad to help stir the creative juices, while opening avenues for the aforementioned tied up girls. Also, if we think of SOOT as the fine particles "produced during incomplete combustion of coal, wood, oil, etc" your acronym fits quite well.

I think I see some Delmo inspiration up there, at least in the miniskirt design. Hehehe... The jet looks like it could turn ground units into scrap, mission accomplished there. One minor note, tho: With the engine placement below the wings and the fins pointing down from the engines, I'm going to bet that takeoffs and landings will be a pain. The front landing gear probably needs to be 15 feet high.

I see the use of explosive rounds against vehicles carrying your own personnel has been covered... Any chance of getting the FMP to boost the armor quality of a damsel drum above that of the host vehicles? Conservation of resources in time of war is important, after all. Also, the "Angels" may have just found a second combat role: Picking up "spills."

As for infantry, I must say I'm fond of HK-47 from the original Knights of the Old Republic (good game, BTW)
[link] and Youtube [link] for a personality sample. As a bonus, he gets somewhat frazzled when confronted with copies of himself in the sequel (bad sequel, BTW). Thinking of a couple of thousand HK-47's arguing amongst themselves is quite fun.
Another possibility would be the Geth from Mass Effect [link] Bipedal, self-evolving synthetic life that kicked their creators out of their own home system. Check the subtypes section, everything from basic trooper, to combat armor, to "hoppers."

"Nomad? Here's my good friend, Mr. Painfully Obvious. Have you two met?"

You're quite right of course. With engine nacelles below the fuselage like this, one would have make all manner of overcomplicated countermeasures just to land the Mongoose.

Well that certainly explains why the arrangement hasn't been used to date. And here I was congratulating myself for coming up with an original configuration.

As for as limiting the use of anti tank armament? Yes, once there is a strong possibility of sororicide, Mogooses would most likely be withdrawn from the theater. In the initial stages of a campaign however, when one can be sure the incoming FMP armor is empty, it behooves Mongoose pilots to disable as many units as possible to ease the burden on engaging AMAZON ground forces.

Regarding individual troops. Yea I was inspired by those wonderful Delmos, but I decided it was high time I come up with some OC's. It occurred to me that with my own characters fighting and tying, I could finally sell prints and such.

I'll check out the HK's, any inspiration of FMP infantry would be useful.

I have a friend who flies for Southwest airlines and flew A-10s for the Air Force reserves. Apparently, about 1/3 of the entire plane is that gun. It fires 65-70 rounds per second, each with explosive power similar to a hand grenade. So, who really needs any other weapons?
