Love it, love it, love it! The lighting, ahh! So much energy!
The told and retold legend of the knight vs. the dragon! COMMENCE!
Chesnaught should have ears ... But at least it doesn't look as silly as Houndoom; I feel like they forgot poor Houndoom's ears. I mean, there was no excuse. It's not like the horns were in the way or anything.
But, I digress! Wonderful work overall; and I don't know if your Quilladin should ever evolve; He's so adorable as is!

Oh Dear, I am so happy you love it! I can even feel your excitement after seeing this~ haha.
Honestly I edited contrast on this drawing after I was done, but I am still trying to get better and better to not be afraid of stronger contrast
and hiding some details from the first sight; discovering drawing....it's the magic of good drawing ^^
If we follow the concept it's Giant sloth, it shouldn't has visible ears.
I know about Houndoom, right? I guess back in 2nd genΒ Satoshi Tajiri probably wanted to simplicity design as much as possible or/and might people working on such small sprites would have problem with making both horns and ears on Houndoom sprite?
I sometimes think that's the reason why it doesn't has ears; I guess you'll be glad to see my Houndooms with ears
Digressions are great! I like to hear more from other people, when they can open to me, it also encouraged me since last year to open to others
Yeah....hard thing if he would evolve...I got used to Chesnaught, especially to my redesign, but if he would...I would still miss his Quilladin stage.
Would it be a bit "painfull" if he would evolve? I don't want to write too much and give spoilers, but Weirda's Quilladin will really want to evolve,
even from more than only one reason.

Weirda-s-M-art In reply to albastrix [2014-06-27 17:32:45 +0000 UTC]
Huh...For me Chesnaught as giant sloth or Quilladin as Glyptodon is just...obvious
Just since firsth sight I just know many prehistoric animals and that's why.
Look at the body shape, short muzzle and mostly- longs massive arms with giant claws.
Furthermore, sloths are known from having often algae in their fur....GRASS TYPE CONFIRMED
Yes, you saw one Houndoom of mine; as I mentioned, it was not wild one, so you'll see my true interpretation of it, with cropped ears ^_^
In Pokemon games, I sometimes miss the adventure with previous stages, because they evolve generally quickly. I know we all aim to evolve
them as fast as possible, because of stats boost, but after around 35 lv till over 60....a lot of levels with the final stage.
I just think Pokemon evolution level cap should be set higher(except Larvest and Deino- THESE are rudiculous! >^< )

And Larvesta isn't even that strong! I mean, I guess it's a little stronger than your average starter, but, come on ... sigh. Oh, well, Pokemon decided it would work that way.

I don't know how painfull it can be, because I've never trained one and I wonder who even tried- in Black/White you catch its evolved form, Volcanora

albastrix In reply to Weirda-s-M-art [2014-07-03 21:48:35 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it's so much easier, especially if you want one on your team in Black and White 2, because rather early in the game you can catch a Volcarona at level 35! Now, that's smart, Pokemon!

*O* Man, thank you so much for complimenting THIS.
I personally think it's the worse(but I don't mean "bad") part of this drawing; I haven't found any red snake eye and not any in enough zoom to use it as reference.
I only have eyes with round pupil. I tried to give it a small texture and good shading, but I was had to give up and limit shading to minimun(since the whole drawing has
quite strong lighting source, it would be reasonable) ans I decided only to put sparkle from one photo. I am not so proud of the eye actually, so really, thank you so much~!

I am so speechless, but I would say this now.
I know you're not a huge fan of the chesnaught line. I understand, a lot people aren't fond of typing, but I think it fits because well, greninja is water/dark, delphox is fire/psychic, and chesnaught grass/fighting vice versa. Actually I know there's some grass types that have high defense, venasaur, meganium, torterra. Just to name a few, and it's hidden abilityΒ Bulletproof: Protects the PokΓ©mon from some ball and bomb moves.(such as water pulse, waterball etc, you can easily find HA quilladin if you have person that has a friendsafari or if you're like me I trade it with a friend x3). Yeah he may have 4x weakness to flying, but torterra who has much high defense has 4x weaknesss to ice same for mega sceptile. And one of it's strongest grass type move is wood hammer 120 power, it may cause recoil but if trained and built right it can devastating enough to wipe probably mega blastoise. Also spikey shield with spikey helm would be a neat way to damage foe that touches it.
Not only that it has 'access' to belly drum which maximize it's attack and could make an easy sweep if it's faster than it's foe so...

"I am so speechless, but I would say this now." I wonder...what do you mean by this?
Did you wanted to say something to me, but you wanted to keep it? I'm sorry if I sound...suspicious.
I am sometimes thinking in odd way.
I am just not fan of its design. while I like its typing, fighting is so good to be STAB. I also love when Pokemon is "focused" on one stat or being physical
or special stat based.
4x weakness NEVER makes Pokemon bad; I think all Pokemon that has 4x weakness are one of the best typing combination, quite hard to defeat if you don't know
their one truly weakness. It's just great.
Ohh...you know?
Since you're so intelligent and have great ideas for Pokemon, can I ask, have you ever wondered what about moves for third stage Pokemon that must be relearned
and cannot be learn at previous stages? (like Wood Hammer for Torterra for example)

The artwork made me speechless to say, as in the artwork is awesome! :3
Yeah I know not many people aren't a fan of it's design. I'm one those people who love chesnaught's design. But I really liked how you portrayed your chesnaught. It looks pretty awesome, I know this design maybe bothersome but. I liked it overall you made him more badass taking on hydreigon. x3
Well Quilladin doesn't know belly drum(which is odd since it has a belleh xD), hammerarm is decently good, and learns decently powerful moves as such as earthquake, and even though it's weak to fairy type moves it knows poison jab(I know quilladin has it but with a decently high attack) and most of the fairy types are pretty slow and have pretty low defense(even though it's sp. def is kindna bad assault vest(which increases it's sp. def could help save it quite a bit). It has a pretty good movepool, I know a lot people would like chesnaught to use a wood sword. Spikey shield is a pretty good move, to me; chesnaught could come close to what a paladin is more like ragnarok online. Paladin focuses a lot on their high defensive and protecting others using a shield. Quilladin even though it has paladin partly as their name are more like crusaders to me. But for me I liked to be abit unique I give one of my female chesnaught a wooden axe. So her move is more like WOOD AXE!

Ohh I see- all right, again I thought something odd and wrong
I am not a fan, because as I said- the shell armour looks just too much like it's a wear, even with pins when I'm looking at official art.
I also wish it would refer to knight and chestnut theme with spiky chestnut on the tailtip, like Ankylosaurus was had. Knight were using also the flail or I am wrong because of movies -_-'
It would be also more logical for it to use Seed Bomb.
For redesigning Chesnaught for real, it IS SO TROUBLESOME...and challenging
Do I sound in description like I want it to be offensive? I honestly like it is defensive, since I know Paladins in games are not so offensive and at last for Diablo,
they're calling many spells. I see them defensive focused, unlike Knights.
Now after time I feel bad I called all the time Quilladin as a knight. Paladins are something to not be mistaken with Paladins and those are higher ranked.
I love Spiky Shield, but I just wish to replace Mud shot with something. THIS one move is just nonsense to me.
To be honest, I will follow my idea might it never learns Leaf Blade, by through level-up it learns Swords Dance.
Fits this Pokemon and idea of fighting as to defend and protect than to go attack first.
As for sword....I wish it would have Needle Sword move- using one of its spikes as a sword or rather as...a lance!
Wood hammer with blades huh? X3 It's interesting while looking up for paladin arts I often saw them with hammer.

I understand your not a fan of it's design. I like it a lot but again I know it's your opinion. ^ ^;
Don't fell bad calling a quilladin as a knight. It's a old term for girls dreaming a guys in their dreams to be saved and be protected by a strong handsome 'knight'. Like your braixen dreams about her quilladin in a knight in shinining armor. It's more of an exaggeration of a term rather than the classification of a class/status. To me, I kind of like a girl saving a guy once in a while. Thus is why I have female quilladin/chesnaught as characters...and I rarely seen any female quilladin/chesnaughts anyways. So more variety. xD
Why use mudshot when you can use EARTHQUAKE??? XD more power in it.
Well paladins can use different variety of weapons, be it sword, be it hammer, be it a axe, or be it as a lance. x3

Why does whooper knows ice punch when it doesn't have arms!?
Why does Goodra's pokedex says it has throw punches that's equal to a hundred pro boxers when it doesn't learn any punching moves?
Why does zubat knows mean look when it doesn't have eyes?
Why does diglett knows aerial ace when it cannot fly?(unless cheat)
Why does chesnaught knows belly drum when quilladin cannot? XD
Why is larvesta is the same size as Heliolisk?
Pokemon logic everybody!
Yeah...gijinka female quilladins but not female quilladins as female quilladins. XD

Reading through this, I can definitely see where you're trying to go with it. A very neat concept I have to say. I do have to admit, the typing really did mess him up and he's moreso just a wall that actually an offensive fighter. Hopefully it can be fixed by Move Tutors. Still I find it a great line overall, but that's just me. As for ideas, maybe just poke around to see what you could use to incorporate onto the story. I'm not exactly the best there is, but I would like to see how it's played out. Especially since the line gets no love ;_;
