Description "In the past 20 years crimes in New Stellac have risen 400%. Not only that, but the prevalence of highly armed and trained criminals has radically increased. That being said even I think this is overkill. Meet the Panther II enforcement vehicle. Omniterrain, triplex redundant drive, you name it.  Designed by this company called Renminbi for asymmetrical bush combat on Zodiac.  Considering what's happening there we probably won't get any more of these."
-Nightbeat

*just an update on my Panther MOC. It's actually almost 100% different, including larger front tires, a better driver interface and new seat, plus Nightbeat has modified knees to fit better. However some of the basic ideas behind the build are still there. Flickr Gallery below, alot more angles to look at this beast from.

Interesting new build. Feels very much like the Bat pod. ANd I suspect that had some influence in this build. Do the controls for nightbeat actually control the steering? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

I hope nightbeat has a seatbelt otherwise if he stops too fast he's gonna come flying off this thing. That'd be hilarious to see in comic form. But then again that's the kind of shenanigans I'd pull in Bionicle MOCkery.

That was the major influence for version 1 if I remember, so I guess that by extension is the influence for this one. Nope, this is for a comic, so I was lax about the actual functionality.
You know what, I hadn't thought about that but I should work in Nightbeat flying off his bike at some point It'd be funny

I figured it was Its a little too similar for it not to have any of that influence. That's okay though. I've certainly taken direct influence from a lot of stuff I build. The Helios is directly influenced from the speeder Anikin steals in Episode 2. I had the lego set of it when the original Clone wars sets were out and I remember loving that set and being enamored with that vehicle. I still am. I watched that scene like a dozen times and poured over the details. Then when I went to build this I pulled a lot of reference shots.

I'm kinda disappointed to hear about the functionality. Even in the bath tub I managed to squeeze in adjustable seats. That's all it does though. It was hard enough just trying to build around that stupid canister part. Well that at least explains why I couldn't figure out how the functionality of the MOC worked. I was looking for something that wasn't there. And to think entire cultures base their realm of existence in trying to understand something that isn't there. How terrible it must be for them.

As for the comic. I think part of the success I have is that I'm willing to take the piss out of my MOCs and show them in goofy and less than flattering situations. And even though I haven't focused on many of them I still kinda have an idea for "what's this guy's gag." For Matteo it's that he's a total asshole stuck in his ways and an archaic form of thinking(cause he's so old). For Archie, it's that he's not very heroic despite the fact that he's pretty much the main hero of all my good guy MOCs. For nightbeat I could see him as someone who takes his job far too seriously but literally no one else cares, even the universe(you) are conspiring to make him look like an idiot. That's where I think I'd go with the character at least.

WOOO Text wall is a text wall.

Apart from the lack of detailing for the vehicle, I love this!

I feel like that's the case on alot of my MOCs, with a few notable exceptions where I'll dive into smaller details. Incidentally Nightbeat would be a good example.
