Description AT LAST. Here's that drawing of Agni in her casual clothes that I said I'd do, before I went off on that rope-filled detour, over this past few days.

Anyway. Agni clothes! Designing outfits is fun as heck. I love it. Out of all the things to draw, I think coming up with characters, and designing their outfits might be my favourite bit. IT GOOD.

So, what's she wearing? Well, if we work up from her underlayers, she's got her shift (basically a long, light fabric blouse) then a light bodice, just to keep everything in place. The big sash around her middle, as well as the little decorative 'panels' on her hips are traditional dwarven wear: Thought to be derived from the outfits worn by fighters, way back when. The skirts are more contemporary, and reflect the fact that Agni is a fairly cosmopolitan sort. She's got a light underskirt, of the same material as her shift, then, a 'main' skirt of more substantial, striped fabric, finally topped off with a wraparound plaid piece, for warmth.

She's also got PLENTY of jewellery. Several earrings and eyebrow piercings, bejewelled finger, and -slightly more plain- toe rings, bracelets and both neck and ankle torcs. Traditionally, Dwarven women were entrusted with the family's finances. One of the most convenient ways to both display the wealth of one's family, and to keep it readily accessible in an age before banking, was to keep it about one's person in easily portable precious metal! That's not to say that the men didn't wear jewellery, too, quite the opposite, in fact, but the particularly heavily laden wrists, ankles, fingers and toes of Dwarven women were -particularly- notable. While coins quickly replaced this method of currency, the fashion for wearing vast amounts of jewellery remained among the Dwarves. Nowadays, it's seen, much as elsewhere, as a sign of wealth and comfort. Agni is reasonably well decorated for a modern Dwarf, she's not doing too bad out of this adventuring lark.

The braids are another traditionalist holdover. According to the various old oaths and rules that instruct Dwarves on how to live (and are the cause of more arguments than is really necessary) Neither male nor female dwarves are supposed to cut any of their hair. Among the guys, this is generally noted in their voluminous beards, but, lacking those, the ladies most prominently have incredibly large, intricately arranged hair. Nowadays, these tenets aren't as strictly adhered to: It's not uncommon to see a Dwarven man with only a shorter beard, or even just a moustache, or rarely even just sideburns. However, truly bare faced Dwarf guys are a BIG rarity. Most girls however, keep their hair long, for reasons of fashion and because frankly, it looks quite nice. Short haired women among Dwarves are very rare. Agni has no fewer than 9 braids, not counting the smaller one, wrapped transversely across the crown of her head, or the two smaller ones that hold her fringe back. If her hair were untied, it would probably reach to her knees, at least, and be nearly as wide as it is long. She's got FRIZZY hair.

And the tankards of beer, and hank of something greasy? Well, what's an evening at the tavern without something to quaff, and something to eat along with it?~

(NB, quaffing is a bit like drinking, but you spill a lot of it down your front, and make as much noise as you can. It's a dwarf thing. Belching loudly and hurling your tankard at the wall/another Dwarf is entirely optional, but might raise a cheer if you do it well.)

(NBB, If you fancy eating like a Dwarf, stock up on greasy roasted meat, the sort of dense, black rye bread that can stop bullets, cheese, onions, taters, and LARD. Porridge for breakfast! Also consider cloves, or liquorice for keeping your breath smelling.... reasonable, between times. Oh yeah, and LOTS of ale.)

Enjoy, folks

Nice job on the boob spilling over the bodice.

Very nice, love dwarf girls
really like the hair, reminds me of the elaborate beards the male dwarves tend to have.

Thanks! Dwarfs rock, you're right.

And of course! I mean, if I can't draw fancy beards, I can at least settle for fancy hair, right?
