Entry for TraditionalPainting's contest - Painting the World

This is a small piece of my world that I always want to paint in the autumn - I keep trying to capture the whole feel of it
Anyone who watches my work will know that I don't ususally do landscapes - but at this time of year I always find myself wanting to paint ploughed fields!
I'm not sure if this is finished or even if it's any good, so I thought I'd submit it and wait for some feedback. Any useful tips would be gratefully received!

I would rather LOOK AT YOUR gallery than just thank you for faving my work. So please excuse my bad manners if you fave or comment on my work, because I may not be thanking you. Instead I will be looking at your work!

I like this one. Idk if it's just the scan/photo or if you meant it, but I really like how the sky is darker on one side. One thing that might be improvable is that the furrows look rather large. Perhaps if you narrowed them some more as they approached the fence? Another thing I like is that the greenery in the back is largely black and white. It makes it look cold.

Thank you for your feedback. I absolutely agree with you about the furrows. You're looking at the third attempt to get them right! It's really strange, but they don't look quite so out of proportion on the canvas as they do in the photo, but I keep looking at it and thinking that to match those furrows the tree and the fence should be bigger. Ah well it's all a learning process, landscape is difficult for me, but it's good to know I'm improving even if it's not quite right yet.

Yeah, landscapes are hard. Which is why I don't do them very much at all. Of course, that also means I won't ever improve. Someday, I will practice my landscapes more

I know what you mean - it's really tempting to stick to what you do best, but now and then you have to get out of your confort zone!

Thank you! I think that maybe the tree and fence are a bit small in proportion to the width of the ploughing lines, but I have a workshop this afternoon,so I should be able to get a bit of professional help

Well I could be wrong - it's hard to look at your own work without only seeing the faults!

I could be wrong too, I'm no expert, but personally I wouldn't change a thing! I know what you mean about only seeing faults in your own work though, I post stuff here that I think is poor and people like it so go figure?!

I took it to the workshop and they all really liked it, so it must be me being too self-critical. I guess it's finished then!
