Description
Name: Melissa Hughes (She doesn't tell anyone her last name and regualry gives her name just as either Melissa, Mel, or M (when she writes something). "Emma Hartfield"has been her default phony-name when she needs to give a full name quickly) Age: 19
History/Personality:
Melissa was born and raised in medieval Driftveil Town. Melissa would often help her older brother and father hunt wild game and sell it at the market. Her father, Sir Horace Hughes, has held his position as Head-Guard for many years and is well respected in Driftveil and while her brother, Eric, managed to enjoy being a guard since although he didn't get much respect at all, he was at least helping and protecting people. Melissa, on the other hand, found guard-duty boring and unrewarding. She was only a city guard to get money for her family. Melissa does enjoy a good fight and would always run swinging when there was trouble and the occasional confrontations are probably what kept her from quitting. She and her brother both wanted to become a Knights and leave Driftveil. Their father let Eric travel to Castelia Castle attempt to enter the Warriors Guild and only after hearing of his success did he uneasily let his daughter go. Melissa failed the initiation process and was too stubborn and ashamed to return home.
After running away with her pokemon she thought of where she could go. She didn't want to go with the Rangers as they had some affiliations with Warriors and could be found by her family, not with the Mages as they reside very closely to Castelia Castle (where her brother was staying), so she ultimately decided to head to the Moor of Iccirus to join the Thieves -where nobody cares who you are.
Melissa is a stubborn and very reactionary person. She is quick on her feet and good with a sword, but is still no expert. She tends to use force to get things done and questions answered.
The scar on her face is from Boston the Bisharp's arm when she lost to him in her initiation fight, she's not too happy about it.
Pokémon:
Jane the Scrafty: -Lax natured
Jane was given to Melissa as a present for her 13th birthday as a very young Scraggy that was confiscated from a crook by her father. Jane is pretty vicious in battles and doesn't mind fighting dirty. She has fought alongside Melissa for many years. Jane is perfectly happy with Melissa joining the Thieves.
Orthrus the Hydreigon: -Rash natured
Proving that 3 heads is not really much better than one. He's pretty big, but not all that smart and doesn't have a good temper. He is very impressionable and tends to go along with whatever Melissa or her other pokemon tell him. He was found in the woods as a Deino caught in a snare. Melissa was allowed to keep him since they couldn't make much money off such a small catch, but after he evolved he helped the family hunt and make more money.
Orthrus was killed in the attack on Castelia City.
Cage the Umbreon: -Serious natured
Cage is a well composed and intelligent pokemon. He uses clever tactics help him get things done. Cage is pretty old and now his age actually shows as an Umbreon rather than being just a large Eevee. Cage was owned as an Eevee by an old aristocratic lady who Melissa once ran errands for before she was old enough to fight. When the woman died, she left Cage to Melissa in her will. The old woman kept Cage unevolved so he could be a more manageable pet. Cage has no reservations over using is intelligence for devious deeds, which is a side of him that Melissa has needed a lot more of lately. Cage will only fight if he he is told to, otherwise he will evade or hamper opponents. Cage is scared of Beedrills, Combees, and Vespiquen -Melissa is still not sure why.
Baron the Pidgeot: -Jolly natured
You don't get to be a fully evolved wild pokemon without being tough, and that's just what Baron is. Melissa was confronted by him when she hid high-up in a large tree (hiding from Rangers after the Thieves Guild was attacked)that happened to be his. Baron is a large bird (large enough to be ridden) and is a serious opponent in combat, but can be jolly when times are good.
Baron is the only member of the team to have no apriball; he always is near Melissa either hidden in trees or flying above
Mort the Cubone: -Timid natured
Melissa woke up one morning in the woods with Mort curled up next to her. She caught him while he was asleep. Mort is very happy to be on Melissa's team and refers to her as "Mama" to the other pokemon. Mort is notably shy and Melissa has doubts that he'll actually be useful in a battle.
Rosco the Quilava: -Lonely natured
Rosco was drawn to the areas razed by the Thieves and Mages by all the leftover heat, smoke and ash. As the disheartened Melissa was leaving Castelia to regroup with the others, she found the Quilava merrily rolling around in some ashes as if it were fresh grass; she found it amusing and after offering him some berries from her pocket, Rosco readily joined the team. While the other team members are quite welcoming to him, Rosco tends to keep to himself.
Edits before R3:
-Cage updated to an Umbreon
-Baron added to the roster
-Updated Melissa's outfit/armor
Edits before R4:
-Mort the Cubone was added to the roster
-Orthrus evolved into a Hydreigon (moveset updated as well)
*Orthrus became incredibly dangerous and unstable after evolving, Melissa is concerned that she may not be able to control him as well after what he did in the events of Round 3, so he will probably not be Melissa's first or second option
-Mask added
-Melissa ditched her sword for a knife. (she was pretty good with her sword, but it was too much extra weight to carry while running all the time)
-Added specific natures to the pokemons' descriptions
Edits before R5:
-Rosco the Quilava joined the team
-Orthrus now marked as K.I.A.
-Melissa got a slight costume change
