ha! Isn't knucklewalking a fascinating concept! The hands are so tense & relaxed at the same time, like in tai chi ... ok, ok I don't really know what I'm talking about

This creature looks like it would have a very interesting and unique walk.

I hadn't worked out its gait, but you're right .. it'd be kind of a hobbling loping gallop .. possibly some spine flexion, like a cheetah. Kind of a tangent, but I'm really annoyed with the motion of monsters that you invariably see in movies .. the red creature on the ice planet in star trek, as an example. Totally uneconomical movement for the sake of visual showiness. anyway...

I agree. I admire Neville Page's audacity and his willingness to create creatures that don't look like anything we've seen before, but often enough I think they don't work well on screen.

Don't get me wrong, it's not the creatures that I hate per se, no matter how wacky and audacious they can get (which sometimes can be pretty awesome), its the uneven treatment they're given in terms of the actual animated movement. Also, thanks for the link to that secondary tutorial! I'll have to take a closer look at it ... there was a at of fine adjustment going on at the end there.

Maybe it's my predilection for horror, but I'm always drawn to the eyes first. Very focused. Not to mention, the musculature itself is daunting. This thing is crackling with a vicious kind of energy. The potentialities implicit in the hands, those powerful rear feet, the incisors - Wow! Powerfully done, man.

Thanks, bud! I think the eyes in particular were from memories of pictures & masks of mandrills .. those things look fierce!

I like yours more than mine, and am pleased it worked so well for you.
maybe its just me, but this almost seems like a murderous homonid kangaroo. (large middle toes, long ears, jutting canines)
and congrats on the binocular vision - the bane of my life. good to know I'm alone in that problem.
again, great work!

I have heard some pretty violent things about camels. This guy doesn't look much more vicious.
Yay blue bums!

That of course depends on whether they like you or not. It they like you then you are best friends. I guess. Steve Irwin loved his camels.
And does it spit Mr Whales sir?

I should hope so. I should hope it also climbs trees & throws feces ... i should have given it longer lashes to weather sand storms.

thankfully, it doesn't look large enough to pin you down just by sitting on you...though one *thwack* from that neck, and you'll be on the ground.
crap, you just reminded me...um, Whalewithlegs, does the cameboon spit?

That's a good point... We'll have to ask him.
I would hate to be chewed. Something that camels are known to do. But that could the result of loading up the beast's back with bolts of silk and bags of spices. So it could be avoidable...

That reminds me, I found a new Barlowe monster when I was searching for images of Keith Laumer's Demons:

Yeah, I feel the same way! It's subtle, but there's a noticeable difference. I could see it in the open mouths on this guy, and the subtle blurring or diffusion along that upper left tendril thing. For me I don't think it's so much hypercriticism as just that I grew up with the analog Barlowe and that's what I know and love. : /
I guess I always wanted to think of him as the last bastion of classical "fine artists" in the non-digital tradition.
I found that guy searching Google images on, let's see..."barlowe demon." Pops up on the first page. It was from a blog called Monster Brains, which looks pretty promising:

Well what else are you going to carry your brains about in but clear plastic shopping bags?

Well if you had used the bag for your weekly shopping then technically you are recycling. That is if you don't go out and buy brains.

I guess you could say this was the straw that broke the Cameboon's back (buh-doom-cha).
