You know, the mood is so different because I wasn't able to capture the mood I had intended the first time. In the previous piece, I know it came out much more stark and hostile, but I don't think that theme is lost on me, heh heh.
I will keep exploring this particular character though. It didn't start out this way, but it ended up as belonging to a goblinoid race from the same continuity as the princess drawings. I say Goblinoid not to denote characteristic, but to talk about the way physical form is much more varied among st members than in the human stock.

This really is beautiful, Ben...I liked the last one a lot, but this version is an improvement in every way, I think. This is very powerful, almost archetypal imagery. There are the seeds of a new mythology here!
(And I hope this isn'a trivial thing to comment on, but I love the jewel-like little water drops on the glass!)

Thanks, thanks! I don't remember exactly where this idea came from, but it was really quite interesting to see ... the landscape inside of the fishbowl is about to be consumed.
Little details like the droplets feel a but like cheating, since they're so procedural, but I agree that they give a lot of pop.
