Description
The next locomotive on the fifteen years later project is this Double Fairlie locomotive.
Given a livery as well as a name by a(n ex) friend over on Discord, and I shall say the locomotive at this name at some point but has now been renamed, to something I approve of.
So Caleb was built to the Scottish designer Fairlies design and worked in the Duchy of Cumberland (If there is a Duke, he must rule over a Duchy), working the mining railway with Corey (later known as Mole), and helped move the mined minerals and gems from the Northern Railway mine they worked at. When the mine closed, these two locomotives, one in the mining tunnel and Caleb in the carriage shed, were covered up and locked up for many years until, they were hunted down by Tony and Andrea Todd to reopen the mine and bring it under the Whippet Wild Railway banner.
So as well as restoration and repainted to new liveries, they also got new names.
Caleb's new name was a choice of three names: Orthrus (two headed dog of hell), Ettin (two headed giant and inspired by the Thomas & Friends cancelled character 'Little Giant) and the third choice was Janus, after two faced God, as well as Janus the cat).
And after a group vote, the winning entry was Janus. And thus plates 'Caleb' was taken off and new 'Janus' plates were put on and the old mining name replaced by Whippet Wild on the water tanks.
Janus is happy to be restored, see the sunlight again as well as a new life, career and return to work at the mineral mine, as well as venture onto the main line for drop off since now the Mining Railway has a connection to the Mainline for the first time in their history.
Janus is a double ended locomotive with a 0-4-4-0 wheel formation. And the livery is to resemble the Great Central Railway (1897 to 1922) of green and red.
Janus also had the honour of collecting the new mining wagons as the mine was restored and expanded in productive.
