Yes! Thank you!
Honestly I'm surprised that nobody had come up with this idea before me. But right after me, someone else came up with something similar and it hit it big. Kind of a bummer, but now that the Earth Chan meme is kinda dead, Gaia still lives on in my stories.
But I appreciate you noticing that. I just never want to be accused of ripping the idea off of someone.

What if someone got in her navel?

whitestormclouds In reply to redballbomb [2018-06-18 02:41:26 +0000 UTC]
There probably is an island in her navel. In which case, it would probably be referred to as "Oomphalos." I'll think on it lore wise. But it would just mean that if you were living on the wall of the navel you could probably see across into the sky at the other side of the navel where other land would be. Though I think her navel is in the middle of the ocean but I don't think it would be much different. Physics in Beautiful World are strange sometimes.

Yes, I have the internet.
If you check the date of this piece though, Gaia was conceptualized in 2016 while Earth Chan didn't become a thing until 2017. So you could say that Gaia is a little bit ahead of her time in that regard.

I loved the creativity. Though I have a few questions.
1. What does Gaia do when her inhabitants go to war? Does she feel anything when people fire missiles each other's territory? Does she try make peace or protect civilians?
2. Why does she wear clothing if every part of her body is either landmasses or oceans? Is there something different under her bikini? Can people live there?
3. What does Gaia do when she's bored?
4. What is the role of Gaia's hair? Can people live on it or touch it?
5. If someone touches or rests on Gaia like how Saturn always rests her breasts on Gaia, is it visible from the surface?
6. Does the Theia collision happen in this alternate universe?
7. If some curious minds decided to jump in her mouth and travel to the inside of her. Would she notice?
8. I would really like to take a photo with her. Would she let me travel all the way to outer space just so I can include at least all of her face in the photo?
And a request, I have been a space nerd ever since the discovery of the TRAPPIST-1, which is a planetary system that has a Jupiter-sized sun and 9 Earth-like planets, I would be very happy to see planettess profiles of at least one of them.

Ooh, thank you! And sure thing. Keep in mind that Beautiful World is a story that is developing all the time so if I don't have an answer now, I may come up with one later.
1: She typically doesn't notice wars going on on her surface. However, whenever a nuclear explosion goes off, she feels a pinch. Nowadays she's typically aware of big conflicts but doesn't really know much about them since the concept as a whole is still very foreign to her.
2: She wears clothing because the Planets have a society of their own where members are generally modest. Here are also land masses on her breasts, rear, and crotch where people can live. In the Adult Version, there would of course be some kind of genitals but this is the All ages version.
3: Gaia usually goes out and spends time with her friends, the other 8 planets and Sol, her sun.
4: People usually don't live on the Fleshy parts of Gaia (face, hands, feet) so they can't reach her hair. Every planetess has hair though like regular people, but for Gaia, I'm not sure what her hair is made out of quite yet.
5: It's hard to see during the day since the sky is blue, but at night people can definetly see the other planetesses. Especially Selena who constantly likes to mess with Humans by laying on Gaia's surface and pressing her breasts against her atmospheric layer.
6: (for the time being until I think of a better idea) the Theia collision was actually Gaia's mother and father fusing together to create Gaia (that's why she has green and blue hair.) Selena was also born at the same time since most Planetesses are born with their moon fairies.
7: If someone was to travel the thousands of miles across her barren skinscape to reach her mouth, they could probably enter it. She wouldn't notice, and the first part of it is very much like a human mouth. But deeper down her through it becomes more earthy. Her saliva resembles human saliva, but it's actually as hot as molten lava.
8: You can typically take a picture of Gaia's face from the surface of her skin depending on where you stand (on her breasts gives you a give position) you'd need space tech to get out that far, or just travel to Selena and have her fly far enough away, but it's possible.
I'll see what I can do for your request. Thanks for asking!

True, true. Though Gaia is set in a different timeline, so I'm sure there are definitely a ton of debates held between certain groups of people, just over different things.
This world's version of "Flat Earth Theorists" is actually people who believe the Earth isn't a huge school girl but a giant sphere. Those people are crazy!
Though not nearly as crazy as the Hollow Gaia Theorists. I'll say that much.

whitestormclouds In reply to Mainthegap [2017-07-08 04:10:39 +0000 UTC]
Alright, sure.
1: Gaia's atmosphere acts as a skin layer: meaning that as long as something doesn't puncture her skin, something touching her won't destroy her surface. which means Selena can lay on her stomach all day and not kill millions of people who dwell miles below where she's laying. The clothing is made of super thin fibers which criss-cross, so large enough spaces are seen between fibers to let in light, though there are still dark lines that stretch across the landscape.
2: We can, yes. There have been expeditions to the top of Gaia's head and bottom of her feet. Only, much like antartica, they are inhospitable and very hot as well as moist. Only a few research facilities exist on her fleshy areas.
3: I actually don't think that Gaia has visible nipples, though I've thought about it. There are two versions of the story: the Relaxed and the Realistic version. And for the Realistic, yes: Gaia would have nipples and a vaginal crevice that people would live near. Though yes, there would be danger of magma since it does enter the earth's crust.
The very top? That's not a problem: that's around where America and Canada would be. So go ahead!

I'm very curious to see how all sorts of different things would work. For example, how people would live, if there would be any human-planet interactions and stuff like that

whitestormclouds In reply to deepestinside [2016-10-08 01:41:55 +0000 UTC]
Well, living on Gaia is practically the same as living on Earth. It's just that you would be aware (in this modern day and age) that you're planet was living and walking around. Though as for interactions between Gaia and the human race, it's a bit more complicated than that.

Interesting Concept, some similar ones have been done before to varying degrees of success and length.
So do you plan to add on to this or is this a one time thing?
If not I might as well ask general questions about the characters and world.
Does Gaia eat and if so what?
Are all the planets female?
what about asteroids black holes, and supernovas?
Would this story involve normal humans at all?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
whitestormclouds In reply to AlexJudge [2016-09-23 04:18:10 +0000 UTC]
I might actually: I do like to think of all the ways this could work as a story.
yes, Gaia does eat. I haven't decided if she just eats giant food, or perhaps bits of comets and asteroids shaped like food. Mostly because if the core is molten, eating asteroids may help regenerate her inner core.
All the planets in this solar system are female. As for other planets on the outside, I guess some of them could be male. Though this would be a GTS-centric story.
Like I said, she may eat asteroids. Black holes could be personified as villainous characters too. And I'm thinking that "supernovas" may be a special attack move that a character like "Sol" could do. I'll think on it.
Yes, part of the story takes place from the perspective of a young schoolgirl living on Gaia. Most humans in this story are aware that they inhabit a sentient body: Gaia actually has a twitter account too. In the story, people are more eco-conscious and careful about how they effect the planet. But I'm sure there will be conflict that the human character faces from time to time.
Thank you for asking: if you have any more questions, I'll keep answering them.

AlexJudge In reply to whitestormclouds [2016-10-05 21:44:58 +0000 UTC]
Any progress on an actual story?
Wouldn't molten core just be a liquid/creamy filling?
How does mining for minerals work on her if her insides are alive?
I got no problems with mainly females, though it bugs me at times when a story makes it so that its ONLY one gender or the other, I'm an equal kind of fellow.
Maybe supernova's could be the star equivalent of cancer, something horrible that happens inside of you that you can stop or notice until its too late?
So does anyone worship Gaia, and regardless can Gaia influence what goes on at the human level? Like make her face appear out of a rock formation to chat, control weather patterns, earthquakes (it be funny if a shaking on the low scale that lasted for a few hours just means to people "Gaia's got the munchies/tummy ache"), plant growth?
Could volcanos be Gaia's version of zits/freckles?
What about space travel and satellites for humans?
How does she have a twitter account?
So would this school girl be a personal friend of Gaia or just a person who lives on her going about a normal life?

whitestormclouds In reply to AlexJudge [2016-10-07 02:49:22 +0000 UTC]
1: An actual story is being put together over time, but nothing right now is confirmed.
2: There is liquid magma and also very hot igneous rock, so there is your liquid and solid sustenance. But like I said, what kind of food she eats is still up for discussion.
3: She probably wouldn't feel normal human mining because it's still on a small scale. Though in the 60s (Gaia is 17 in Planetess years and billions of years old in human years so she was around the same age in the 60s) there was a lot more aggressive mining, and so she started to feel more sick. But now in 2035, people are more eco-friendly so she's healthier, and there's less mass scale mining.
4: Well then you're in luck: because there are male planets in this story, but the bulk of your general characters will probably be female.
5: Perhaps. Then again, only stars would have that kind of disease then. But it's a thought.
6: She can't really control what happens beneath her skin (well, I guess she could cut herself and that would destroy miles of land, but she wouldn't do that.) So she doesn't really have physical influence. but through social media, she can connect with people and she influences them alot. In fact, part of the reason why people in 2035 are so much more ecologically minded is because of Gaia's influence. There are people who worship her much like pagans worship our Earth now, but she just thinks it's kinda silly.
as for natural disasters, I'm still thinking on those.
7: Well, zits would only appear on her face, but yeah: I could totally see that holding true. As for other natural volcanoes that form on her land masses, those would just be normal, ordinary volcanoes.
8: There are satellites in orbit of her, but they are too small for her to see. In the 60s, NASA succeeded in landing a shuttle on Selena, who was super hyped about having live on her for once. They are in the process of trying to figure out a way to get a man on Mars.
9: This is where the realistic meets the abstract. Gaia goes to school with other school girls: they all have phones. Though mostly they connect on a website called "Galaxy Affinity," which allows them to connect with other planetesses, Gaia can also access Twitter and communicate with humans that way. Most other planetesses in the soalr system can do it as well but choose not too.
10: At the beginning of the story, she's just another girl who's observing Gaia without having direct relations with her. It's like two sides of a story in a way. But I think that there could be a way where they have an interaction some how. I'll think on it.

Yeah, actually. Mars is well aware that humans want to land on her, but they just haven't been able to do it. She does complain about all the rovers she finds on her: claims that they make her itch.
But in this story, back in the 60s, humans managed to land a spacecraft on Selena: which she was very happy about. As for the rest of the planetesses, it just hasn't happened yet.

Okay, so space travel is roughly equivalent to OTL? Do satellites work the same way sorta, and do we have an "international space station"? Also- do the same nations exist as in our universe?

whitestormclouds In reply to Tangle-Giantess [2016-10-02 02:02:44 +0000 UTC]
The same nations do exist, yes. They may just be in different places.
There are plenty of satellites, though this takes place a little bit farther into the future when Humanity is more eco-friendly, so there are less satellites in the sky orbiting Gaia. Though typically, they're so small that she can't even see them anyway.
There are space stations, including the ISS. Though they typically aren't much bigger than satellites are. Selena is small enough to see the satellites (they look like grains of salt to her) and often times teases the humans on board by playfully threatening to "squish them" or "pluck them out of orbit and make them orbit her instead."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
whitestormclouds In reply to Tangle-Giantess [2016-10-03 01:31:23 +0000 UTC]
Gaia was definitely surprised when she first discovered humans. There have been times when they've noticed human activity. Gaia is less annoyed and more frightened by nuclear explosions: they actually do hurt her. It's more of a sharp pinch to her, but they definitely concern her and she's advised against using them (though most nations haven't always taken her seriously.)
One night she noticed a blinking red light traveling across her arm, which happened to be Spudnik. NASA managed to plant a probe in her ear so that they could communicate directly with her, and between them, her, and Selena, they were able to orchestrate the first moon landing. So yeah, they're pretty intrigued by human ingenuity.
