that's David on the left and Wyatt on the right. i tried so hard to get david to stand up long enough for a shot....just wouldn't do it.

i'm freaking out because they are getting shots later today...

first shots?



well - the good news is - they're over it in about ten seconds

the bad news - you take a little longer to recover

its tough alex has his 9 month ones in two weeks but i will say - i personally - i stand to the side and hold my fingers in my ears and talk to myself to get past the shot time (they do it really fast) and then i comfort immediately and walk out of the doc's office and shh them and it helps. i hope you get two nurses to do both boys at the same time so you can each hold and then console one - shorten the time of discomfort.

alex always recovered FAST FAST (in seconds) after the shots. cried getting them but it was fast and zero after effects. i bet your boys do fine.

worst case - you can give them baby tylenol after but i bet they are fine. just reminds yourself that some folks stand in long lines for free vacinations - your baby boys are very lucky to get them and you're doing one of the first of many (as you know) adult mommy things that is TOUGH

second shots but the first that they will be cognitively aware that I am somehow responsible...yeah, i know i'm taking that a bit far. the hardest part is that there are two and i become torn trying to console them both. i have them do it one at a time because i think both melting down would just overwhelm me.

thanks for the reassurance! this morning my partner put it into perspective by saying at least it's just shots...not something like drawing for blood gases, or something dreadful....they are healthy boys afterall. i'm just a softy....

when i was three, i lost the tip of my left index finger in an accident....it was crushed in a gear and i basically ripped it off. i remember it still very vividly. now...now however, i wonder how my parents endured my screams. we were up in the mountains and it took almost an hour to get to a hospital....

i have a scar in the middle of my top lip i got from around age 4 - i too, still remember them holding me down kicking and screaming while they put stitches in me



shots - however - are FAST - they won't remember at this age within an hour that they had them much less that you are responsible

now do you both go? is it impossible for each to take one to console while there are two nurses that do the shots?
