lol, so now i'm going to make all my watchers angry, but what can you do?first off, i'd like to say that I really really really appreciate you guys who comment on almost everything and that this is not directed at you. you know who you are, and you rock.
i'd also like to say, that i apologize for how i've let my commenting slide in the last few months. i'm going to work on that, and comment on stuff as much as i can because you all deserve lots of love.
this comic came about because of my intense and on-going frustration at how little attention anything in my gallery that is not Tarja/Nightwish related gets. it really makes me want to stop drawing the comics. if you hadn't noticed, i haven't done a comic in months. i didn't feel the need to. but, where my comics all have views into the 500s, and over a thousand some of them, my other work (which i put a lot more time and effort into, btw) usually gets less than 100 views.
now, i totally understand that a lot of you watch me because of my Tarja stuff. i get that. i really do, and its okay. i love Tarja. she's awesome.
but i'd just like to explain that I LIKE OTHER THINGS TOO. i like to draw other things, and i get exited about other things, and i want to fangirl over them. i don't want to feel like i have to draw Tarja stuff to get people to notice me. that's not what art is about and that's not why i came to DA.
also, i don't want to sound like i'm begging for views. i'm not, i promise. i actually just want a few more comments because i like to know what you guys think about my stuff. that's why i came to DA. to get the perspective of other artists.
okay. uber rant over.
expect my next uploads to be full of angry Claymores. its how i feel right now.

I think the reason you get so many pageviews for your Tarja stuff is because that's what you're known for.
Stick with your original stuff/new muse stuff and pretty soon you'll be known for that. I feel your pain, though. Fanart seems to get the most views...Keep up with what makes you happy. People will soon realise that you draw what makes you happy and will respect you for that.

I completely understand. Sometimes I have the same dilemma. I didn't get on dA for a really long time because I was just frustrated that I wasn't getting much feedback, and I got more feedback on Facebook. 
I want to draw what I feel like drawing, and what inspires me. Those things DO change. For a while, drawing might not even be what is inspiring me and it might be photography, painting, collaging, sculpting, or other art forms. Maybe even writing, animating, or music. My medium/media changes so much, LET ALONE the subject matter. Holy cow... the subject matter.
I appreciate the fact that you are going to draw what YOU want to draw. I just wasn't commenting on anyone's dA for a while. Sorry if that made you feel left out... ha ha ha.

exactly. as artists, we need to be free to follow our creative whims, and not have to worry "well, is anyone going to actually pay attention to this?" it can get so frustrating.
ah, i was more concerned about the people who comment on only some of my work and not others. its different if you don't comment at all. i understand that there are many reasons for that, and have been guilty of it myself. but it really bugs me that some people will comment within seconds on some of my work and not at all for others.

And then there's the fact that for a long time I commented on so many people's things, like, all the time. Finally people started getting annoyed with me and said "Unless it's something really crucial, stop commenting as much, blah blah blah, stalkeresque, blah blah, spam, blah..." or something like that. Or maybe that was only on Wordpress... ha ha ha.

Ahahaha! This was downright hilarious xD Yet, a bit sadly true.
As for comments, views and all that shit, weeeeeell, you know, I try to comment on everything I see, but sometimes I just have nothing to say or (like in case of Claymore) don't know what the fuck are you talking about. So yeah, I view pretty much everything (unless I get one of my "damn it, my inbox is too flooded" attacks and just delete all devwatch messages without thinking twice).
And I know exactly what you mean with people viewing just one part of your gallery. I have the same problem with my writing. Hardly anyone even takes a look at it, but whenever I put up a stupid comic or a simple drawing of one of my idols being a retard or something, I get a bunch of comments and favs within 3 days whilst with my writing which means much more to me and takes three times as much time and effort to finish I get like 2 comments and maybe 1 fav. Usually. It's frustrating.

lol, that's fine! i understand. sometimes i look at people's art and just don't know what to say about it, even if i really do like it. and i have those awful days, too, where i open my inbox and go "holy crap!"
yep. comics get so many views, even when they only take 10 minutes to make. its so frustrating.

Heh, my comics take longer to make because I can't actually draw. If you look at them, they look like they came from a five-year-old rather than from...yeah, me, hahaha! But I still like doing them as they sometimes help me feel better when I'm down and so on. And I like making people laugh which is a hard thing to do with writing.

lol, it was just an example. i'm sure that you put a lot of effort into your writing and want it to get more attention. i feel the same way about my comics, too. sometimes i just need to do one because it makes me laugh, but i don't want to feel like i HAVE to do them, you know?

Yeah, I understand. Usually people understand what makes me laugh about certain situations in my comics, but who knows? Perhaps one day I will post something that others won't get.

I have to admit too, even though I liked your works generally, I was one of the people following you mainly because of your Tarja drawings as well. They were cool, and I loved your style!
I may be wrong, but isn't the reason why your other drawings don't get that much attention the fact that you don't have followers who would be interested in what they're about. Meh, I didn't put this well into words. I mean, if you're making for example fantasy based drawings, you could join/submit your work to some groups who are about this kind of stuff. Because if I saw correctly you are a member just of Tarja groups, so this way it's understandable that your drawings related to her get more attention.
And on a personal note, I think it's quite natural that people don't accord the same amount of attention to everything. Especially in this case, for example if I followed someone because I liked his photographs about hills and fields, I probably won't get uber-excited if he starts uploading photos about cars and motorcycles. Just a silly example.
But keep on drawing what you want to, and what makes you feel good, may it be Tarja or anything else.
But don't be angry with Tarja because of this. It's not her fault.

i get that, and i really don't begrudge it, despite how my rant made it seem.
i actually rarely submit anything to groups at all, even my Tarja ones (and i am a member of a few that are not related to her). i'm in them mostly to see what other people are doing, so i think they have very little affect on my overall viewership. but, perhaps you are right. i should look into finding some other groups for my work.
of course, but from my perspective, Tarja is a very small chunk of the art i do. i've been leaning on it as a crutch.

And I have to agree, it's annoying when people watch you just for one certain thing. They should really start appreciating the other stuff you draw, not just something you draw once in a while that they are somehow related to. Anyway, can't wait for more of your stuff (and sorry for not commenting very much but I've been busy finishing school, hehe)!
