So... looks like Luke and Kevin saw all the concepts for human or inkling/octoling versions of Melony and said “skidaddle skidoodle, human Melony is canon”. The reactions, unsurprisingly, have been mixed. Some openly simp for her, others say she should have stayed as an ambiguously inanimate object, yet others put 54321imageekXD on a pedestal and claim her take on Melony is superior to canon (good job, Geeky. Seriously). I for one welcome Melony’s new self to the cast. Her design is unique, her personality is a total mood and in general, she’s pretty cute (oh I’ve been saying that about Meggy and Tari for years, don’t jUDGE ME-). And how am I celebrating her arrival, er, rebirth?

With a Sonic Adventure 2 parody staring my own human Melony. Because Infinite is still dragging me into this pit-

I mean, because as much as I like the official human Melony, I... don’t really want to let go of my own version. I’m proud of the ideas I’ve come up with regarding her. And because alternate universes are a pretty big theme in my work, I’ve decided to use the concept of alternate Melonys to not let the canonization of human Melony negatively impact her. So, there are now two versions of human Melony to deal with. With names differentiated by the classic format of “Trait!Character” (do people still do this?); there is Canon!Melony, the sleepyhead who many fans have understandably fallen in love with; and Wicker!Melony (possible alt.: WDG4!Melony), who is... well she’s the more evil of the two, that much can be said. Was already human by the time the YouTube Arc began and she is much more loyal to SMG3 than the rest of the Snitchy Squad, to the point that she refused to turn against him during WOTFI 2020 and walked off by herself at the end, determined to bring SMG3 back from the Internet Graveyard.

I feel like if the two Melonys met, they’d have a dynamic where Wicker!Melony treats Canon!Melony as a bitter rival and Canon!Melony is just like “yaaay, new fwiend”.
