Lichtenstein's Hartebeest, Alcelaphus lichtensteinii, is a relative of the Red Hartebeest which I've already painted: willemsvdmerwe.deviantart.com/… This is a coloured pencil drawing. This hartebeest lives in savannah in central-southern Africa and is named after zoologist Martin Lichtenstein. Its horns are much shorter and differently shaped from those of the Red Hartebeest. It reaches a bodyweight of 150 kg/330 lbs.Related content

This is really amazing. I very much like how you did the lighter-colored grass in the foreground. The negative space effect is trippy, adding nice crisp detail to the foreground without distracting from the hartebeest. I always enjoy how you make the scenery less saturated than the subject, though the good shadow under the animal really ties everything together here. Lovely.
