Description The Spotted Shovel-nosed Frog, Hemisus guttatus, is a very strange burrowing frog from South Africa. Unlike other burrowing frogs, which use their hind legs for digging and go backward, this one pushes into the soil head-first using its hard, wedge-shaped snout. Its eyes are small so as to not get in the way. Watercolour.
