It kind of reminds me of how West African nations traditionally make these elaborate locks and keys for things - not at all because of the style or anything, just in the fact that it looks way too beautiful to be utilitarian. That's pretty cool.

Thanks. I have made functional keys too. In fact the little brass key for the inner lock on my safe is in the shape of a ginkgo leaf. This project was fun, in part because it did not need to be functional, it just had to look good in the movie. I know what you mean about the west African artwork. I am very fond of some of the elaborate coffins they make to be buried in. Here it is all boring, whether it is expensive polished hardwood with silk inside, or just a pine box. However the thing that I really love about the work from that area, is how they have preserved designs and techniques from the Bronze Age. There are goldsmithing designs that were common all over in 1000 BC that now are only done in parts of Ghana, and Togo.
Let me know if ever you want to have something made.

Yeah, I totally didn't know you did metal stuff. I'ma check out your gallery for more in a sec...
I think the reason our stuff's boring is because we separate art from everything else. In traditional African stuff there's no difference between art and everything else. Stuff like stools and pots are crazy-decorated and awesome.
I'm very excited because I'm actually going to Ghana this summer, never been before.

I have never been there either, but a good friend spent last winter there studying metalwork, and then I went to see him in Ireland where we worked on the process of using the Bronze age tools to work out how they were used to make the flanged forms that The Fulani people now make with iron tools. My trip to Ireland was wonderful, and he sail that traveling around Ghana on foot was wonderful as well.

I have never heard of the producer, and don't think that the release title is settled. He says he loves the pieces look, and will send me a copy so I can see my name in the credits. I don't take in much in the way of cinema, so he could be better known than I think, but who knows, and work I get paid to do is a good kind.

Thanks. This one is not much like what I usually do, but it turned out nicely.

The best results in general are awaited ^^
But sometimes is better to have control on than one makes, no?

True enough, and the producer loves how it looks, and can't wait to start filming.
