Description Ode to a Thai Fortune Teller Fish

You writhe, as if in pain
And the heat from my hand is your torture.
     Your passion, my passion
     Your love, my love
And I pity you, for it's because of me you flail

     I seek my heart's desire
In your red shape, clear and glossy
With the sweat of my palm
With the heat of my skin
And my heart's desire is echoed in your crimson scales

Your curl, like a child who fears the dark
So passionate, and I envy that I cannot
     curl up, too,
     hide inside me,
And wait for the stoms of emotions to pass away.

Your candy-red tail -- how it flashes
Though it never hints a jerk or twitch on its own
For I am far from indifferent
     Indifference is bliss
If that be the case, there is no bliss found in my heart.

     Instead you curl before me
And I see the passion leaking into my being
What to do?  What to do?
I ask this question over and over
And you, my liffle fish, still refuse to answer me.

     Instead, you mock me,
Curling your head and tail, reminding me of a love.
     A love I never had.
And then you move your head again
And remind me, once again, of how jealous I am.

     Little fortune fish,
Can you not sit silent and flat and tell me I'm dead?
     Let my feelings be silent,
     And then you shall sleep.
And maybe then, little fish, you'll torture me no more.

A friend gave it to me because she said I needed something to distract me from present problems. As a matter of fact, it almost enhanced them, as you can tell from the poem.
