I had a similar thought when seeing this beautiful (yet a bit sad) photo. This dog reminds me of some of the dogs that I met when I was trekking. They were also behind a fence, and often very playful. I'd just stand there and pet them, and after that make a photo so I can remember them^^

Once as I got out from the bus on my way home I saw a dog in the house just in front of me, and it was alone in the small courtyard waiting for its master/mistress, and it let me pet it when I sat on the sidewalk, and then when I got up it started jumping on the portal and shaking its tail, and it brought me its toys for us to play. I cried like a child when I left him to go back home. I love this picture.

I'm glad you like my photo that much! I used to have a lot of encounters with this kind of loyal animal, and they were all very exciting to play with. The last time is last week when I came to a specific place to work, I saw a fluffy dog. There was very empty and not many people around, so when I had to go home, he kept barking and waving his tail, stood on his feet and waited for me to come and play with him. It was a sad moment though, yet if I have any chance, I'll come back and play some other time

That's wonderful! 
Luckily there are no stray dogs where I live and also people don't leave their dogs alone in the garden. For this reason I don't meet dogs when taking a walk, but I do meet a lot of different cats. Cats have quite different characters in comparison to dogs but they are as much loveable! I try to take photos of the cats I meet so I can remember them.
