Description
Minipainting for ~Lady-woods of her raven/panther gryphon, Syriannach. She wanted a purple/green wash background, which I got a little carried away with and started adding white gouache and splatters :0I love painting black creatures! It's a fun challenge to figure out what colors to add to make black without using flat black. No black watercolor was used in this!

Try using mixtures of blue, purple, and brown! When you combine blue and brown you often get a dark rich 'black'.

That's so cool! And I think the background looks fine...it has enough going on that it's interesting, but not detracting from the image of the gryphon.
