This was inevitable, really. Who hasn't thought of how our favorite ghoul might have looked before the ghoulification process.Well, here's my attempt at rendering human Charon. It started as a sketch of a random merc, then I thought it kinda reminded me of Charon. Only a bit, but still. A few changes to match that bone structure and voila - this is the image of pre-ghoulified Charon I had in my mind all along.
I actually made a couple of other attempts - I tried to draw above a screenshot of him - but they weren't anything good.
You may not agree with the way he looks, but I love how it turned out!
The head may be a bit big, but it would be too difficult to resize it - it has 6 layers! And no background this time - I wanted to concentrate mainly on the face.
Funny that he has almost the same haircut as my F3 character Nikki, and his hair color is closer to mine in real life
Well, I just like men with longish hair and it's not my fault that our hair color is almost the same.Also check out the sketch [link] . I still like that sketchy version of his face more.

Well, that's the phrase he said in the game. Seems quite fitting to the scornful look he gives that contract. And yes, the irony is there, that's why I chose such title.

What would make sense is that he got this nickname when he started working for Azhrukhal. Underworld, the Ninth Circle, Cerberus, so Charon fits right in.
But I wasn't about to create a normal name for him, so I just put Charon on the dog-tag.

It might have been his grandfather's nickname in the war, before he he retired then our Charon wore it to rember his grandfather. Then people started calling him charon after he lost his rember and became a ghoul.
Just a thought of mine in case I wanted to do a fan-fic.

I actually thought you'd turned your Nikki character into a man at first glance. I can kinda see Charon in there when you point it out, though. I just love the way you do your art work overall, who'm I kidding. Nicely done!

This is such a great idea, and one of the more detailed "pre-ghoulification-Charons" I've seen here on DA! I've often imagined what he looked like before becoming a ghoul, and I think that this is definitely believable. Especially in the eyes and his facial structure.
I like that somebody is handing him the contract. Once again, I've wondered if he had it before or after becoming a ghoul. And the title is great too, loved that line in the game

I actually saw just one other such picture and it didn't look anything close to what I imagined him to be. So I just had to make my own version
Yeah, I liked that line in the game too. Well, as far as I remember, Ahzrukhal said that Charon 'grew up among an interesting group of individuals' or something of that kind, so I always thought that the ghoulification happened later, probably iteven was caused by an order of the contract holder to enter an irradiated zone or and attempt to rescue that holder from it.
Another issue is whether Charon is a pre-war ghoul or not. I also saw different approaches to it. As you can see from the background with devastated cityscape, I believe that he's not a pre-war one.

I like that line because it's one of the few statements in the game that sort of says "I'm not just your bitch!" whereas in most other parts of the game, he's incredibly loyal to the point where he feels like he doesn't have a mind of his own. But that quote totally says otherwise! XD
That's a good theory! I like to think that the contract had something to do with his turning into a ghoul as well. Not sure what but... it seems to fit, doesn't it?
I personally never saw Charon as a pre-war ghoul either. I don't know what it is, I just get a vibe from him that he hasn't been around quite as long as some of the other ghouls in Underworld have.

As a piece of art, it's amazing. As a representation of Charon, I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I don't actually have an idea of how he would look as a human, aside from short hair and a longer face (seriously..to me Charon always has such a long face o.0).
But hey, those are my own opinions and ghouls are all open for interpretations on how they looked prior to the process.
But I admit I really enjoy the eyes and the 'snarled' lips you captured.

Yeah, I know everyone has their own ideas about how a ghoul would look like as human. So every artist just can add some features he/she likes. As I did with hair, for example

No, there was another version... AFAIR it's by the same artist that illustrated 'the ghoul, the bad and the ugly' fanfic.
I would've liked to see more interpretations, but there's no other I know of.

He's a character from the game Fallout 3. There are a lot of other pictures of him in my gallery (he might be difficult to recognize after this pic though).
