Description Another moment with Sherlock Holmes, Watson and Lestrade in .. uhm... ah, the Baker Street Nursemaids. xD Yet again, I have not drawn enough recently, I wish I could do better. xD Forgive my rusty hand. LOL

"What do we do now?"
"Perhaps he's hungry"
"Yeah, yeah, of course... he's hungry. Well then make him a cup of tea, Watson."

XD XD

10 fingers, 10 toes, so it's a healthy drawing.

Oh! I loved that episode. Particularly when they tried to sing a lullaby.

Watson's expression is perfect there and the baby's hand reaching at Holmes is adorable .

Yes! I am so glad they used a real baby because that little hand reaching out for Holmes ... it gets me every single time. The most adorable gesture in the whole series. xD

You know, in the series with Basil Rathbone as Holmes, Watson sings a very very beautiful version of Loch Lomond.... I wish this Watson here had more of that secret passionate singing in him. xD

Haha, excellent! This is one of my favorite episodes of this series! The whole series doesn't get enough love- and Holmes is so adorable in it too!

I really like how you did the shading and such in this, and their faces are just perfect!

And I agree! I just checked what Wikipedia has to say about the series and I totally agree with what they say there:

I was suddenly stuck by the difference between the character in that book and that of the stage and screen. Here, Holmes was a young man in his thirties, human, gifted, and of a philosophic and scholastic bent, but subject to fateful mistakes which stemmed from his overeagerness and lack of experience. [1]

In early stories like that one, Conan Doyle had not yet grown tired of his character, who later became a literary monster for him. And, as literature, the earlier stories are far better. But practically every stage and screen presentation of the detective is based on the later stories.

Gotta find that book and read it, I so wanna know more about why Howard and Sheldon did Holmes as they did.

Sorry! Latest reply ever- I all but abandoned dA for the last few weeks, and I felt your wonderfully thoughtful comments deserved more then the passing glances I've been sparing everything else XD

Thats a book I'd definitely read- whatever the reason they chose to portray Holmes as they did, I'm glad of it! It's such a valid side to his character that nobody knows much of. I love a good dark and broody Holmes like the rest, but he has so many different facets to appreciate! Especially if you consider that the canon covers such a huge span of his life. I also love watching/reading into other authors and actors etc. viewpoints of him- you find bits of canon elaborated in ways you may never have thought to interpret them as!

I always find it kinda funny that the arguably best known character ever was made up by a guy who ended up practically hating him XD And yet, what a character!

I know! I always think about that, too. Poor Doyle, that something so hated would turn out to be the best known and loved thing. Incredible, really.

And quite so. I was just recently watching RDJ!Holmes again in his first adventure and thought it was actually half-bad. xD I still think the same as I did back then so I wont repeat what I wrote in my "review" of back then.... but I still thought much better of many little details that I hadn't seen before. It is always a good thing to see things through other peoples eyes.

Ah, yes, good good! I actually love the RDJ films, and I sort of owe them for starting me on my path of obsession, even if my interest is mostly for the canon itself. Now that I'm quite familiar with the canon, I can easily understand how people wouldn't like them, but it also lets me appreciate all the little details they didstuck in there that a canon fan wouldn't see (and I didn't the first time round either!)

LOL I meant to write that it is NOT half-bad, as in, the film was sort of good, actually. xD But I think you got that.
