Description This is the character Lyra and her Daemon Pantalaimon from the novel series His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. This is based off of the first book, "The Golden Compass".
I've always wanted to draw this character, and last night it just sort of came to me XD
I guess the only thing I really don't like about this picture is the fact that the lines (especially in the hair) aren't very smooth. My tablet lags a lot, and the pressure is all screwed up on it: so I couldn't use it. And my mouse has been acting up recently, and due to shakey hands, this is the result. e__e

Oh well.

I used to watch Homestarrunner back when they were first putting out cartoons. I stopped after a while and recently went back at around Christmastime when I randomly started singing Decemberween... haha

I'm in a chat and this came up in the bot searching for fan art. Very nice job. I adored the books! I really liked the movie, too, and wish it had done better at the box office as I would like the other two books to become movies. Nicole Kidman was perfect!

Thanks a lot, and I agree. It was well done. However, I wasn't too fond of how they did things out of order, and changed Billy Costa's original character purpose. But whatever. They showed Iofur's jaw getting ripped off and had it blow right your face, so that was good enough for me! lol

I agree about the change in Billy's character. Thought he was better portrayed in the book. How will it covered in future movies (if there are any) as to why Lyra would go to the Land of the Dead if not to retrieve Billy's soul?

I don't know if I like the girl that they have chosen for Lyra... I thought of her as being more tomboy-ish looking. Dunno.

In the United States it is titled the Golden Compass. Many books have different titles in different countries, like Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone.
