Description Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

So maybe it's not a little kid holding the sign, or whatever shit makes these kinds of photos popular these days, but it's still an important message.

A truely advanced society would realize that it should legislate based on the health and welfare of its people rather than morality. Until sex workers can go to the police to report abuse and coercive behavior, they will never be able to be free members of society.

Great shot. I didn't get many of the SWOP float this year. Got quite a few good ones last year.

Did you get a media pass? I considered it but I wasn't well enough to do the rout this year. Maybe next year.

I have a heap of good pics I'd love to put up but my dial up connection just can't handle it right now. I think they are making them worse so people upgrade to broadband.

I've also been busy with being sick, looking after rescue lizards and funerals. *not a good few months*
I'll try and get some of my pics up.
Keep up the good work.

Lol, well, I didn't mean to sound as down on 'kids holding political signs' photos as I probably did...I was just thinking about what usually makes these sorts of shots popular when I was submitting it - and a sex worker asking for rights is about as far from that as it's possible to get, really.

Thanks for the fave.

Yeah for sure its all good...Sadly people dont think about sex workers rights...i mean they are starting to and alot of Feminist groups are pushing that but sadly not enough people think about it.

Yeah, they think because they're in that industry then they're not as "worthy" of rights, because sex is, lyke, bad!

yeah sadly its still kinda the same way in other areas too like sex education in schools. They dont tell kids about condoms or anything still its obserd. This world acts like sex is talk of the devil when its a very raw, very pleasurable emotion that everyone has eventually in there life.

Good old conservatives, letting their religion effect everyone else's lives.

Thanks. It's not the sort of thing that a lot of people would likely agree with, but I think it's important.

Great shots - I love looking at them. Can't get eeeeenough. So "out there". What a wild town old Sydney town is. Your shots are quite different from mine. (But I was on the other side of the barrier - a mere spectator). Amazing the different perspectives one gets at the same event. I have submitted some of my 'people' shots to "People" category. Thanks for the tip.
PS It'd be great if there was a site devoted entirely to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras! I bet a lot of DAers would be interested in it.

I'm still happy when I see mardi gras photos, too. I went looking for some more, but there only seem to be a handful of people who've submitted photos...which is bizarre, considering it's one of the biggest and best opportunities for photos at this time of the year!

Well, I still think that it'd be good to have a site just for those of us who took photos at the Mardi but I guess it's not possible. Between you and I we could submit quite a few fab shots!
