Ristar = happiness. I remember playing this game on Sega Channel. (You do remember Sega Channel, don't you?) And it's probably the most awesome part of that Sonic Mega Collection. Which has to count as some kind of irony.
So anyway, nice pic. Very nice pic. The sort of pic that could die for your sins, it's that good. My only complaint is that your drawing doesn't show Ristar actually stretching his arms, which kinda clashes with the sprite you included. But if you look at it as your drawing and the sprite drawing being successive frames of the same animation, it's not so bad. So okay.

Never really heard of the Sega Channel. Also it was impossible to unlock on SMC, but I did get Sega Mega Drive Collection.
As for the stretching, it's cos there was a size restriction. D=

Eh? *google* Oh. I guess Sega Channel wasn't that big over there in Englishland. You missed out, man.
Long story short, it was like New Napster for the Genesis (or "Mega Drive", as they call it in Un-America). You bought a subscription from the cable TV company, and you received a big honkin' adaptor cartridge. The adaptor plugged into your Genesis/MD like any other cart, except it also hooked up to your cable connection. With that connection, you had 24/7 access to a rotating library of games. (I still remember staying up until 2 or 3 AM on the first of the month, just to see what 50 games I'd have available for the next 30 days.) It was pretty awesome for its time.
And yes, unlocking Ristar is a pain in the heinie, but I plowed all through the starts and resets anyway as soon as I got SMC+, because the game is just that cool. That, and I'm a pathetic loser with nothing better to do.
As for the size restrictions, well... poop to you, Newgrounds. Poop, I say!

Without it, I would never had heard of Rocket Knight Adventures or even Pulseman...
