Description Another addition to my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

This is my version of the villain Slash. I like the idea of the character being a mindless thug. I also figure any pet turtle of Bebop and Rocksteady's would suffer quite a lot of abuse, thus all of the scars and notches.

haha. Thanks! I think you are the first person that noticed that. I was pretty proud of that addition.

And well you should be. It's weird. I had just seen a bit on TV about an alligator snapping turtle and it's weirdo tongue thing. Perhaps that's why it jumped out at me in your drawing. Whatever the case, it was a great touch.

Yeah. I think he really works best as a snapping turtle. Not some sort of alien.

For once it's actually on an English language site too. Usually when that happens it's in Russian or something, and I have no idea where to even leave a comment.

Well done, but naaww..

while it was cute for the cartoon to make Slash a moron .. his toy is cool and he;s fun to fight in the games ::

the penultimate SLASH version is that of the comics.

In TMNTA he was allied and manipulated by Krang. The only reason he was a villain.

A tragic character at that who's entire world .. once filled with beautiful vegetation and palm trees only to be decimated by loggers. Thus his love for Binky .. or "Palm Trees".

..Slash was a very angry , young Turtle ..but also a hardened warrior. Also noble and honorable.

Ultimately he sacrificed himself to save his friends.. the Turtles from destruction at the forces of Maligna as her ship was careening towards the sun. He died saving their lives and and referred to them as his friends.

Geeky , maybe .. but i stand by that.

He was a well processed and thought out character.

So sorry.. if you are lookin to me to see a villain here, you ain't gona get that.

I will look at this beautiful rendering of him as a hard core Turtle Warrior.

Those you disagree..

Bite me..

WonderDookie In reply to tOkKa [2009-11-23 21:21:35 +0000 UTC]

See, that's one of my problems with the Mirage comics and aspects of the cartoon- I can't get into alien storylines. I think mutant animals and alternate dimensions are quite weird enough. I also don't understand why alien races would just look like mutated versions of earth animals. When it's alternate dimensions than it can make sense, cause different animals took different evolutionary pathways. (Yes. I have put way too much thought into this).

If I were to personally write Slash I'd probably incorporate aspects of both. Make it so he was Bebop and Rocksteady's pet, but they abused him horribly as sort of a substitute for the TMNT. Then Shredder mutated him to send him in as a spy to the turtles, but between all of the abuse and Shredder's manipulation Slash's mind is fried and he's more like one of those overly abused fighting dogs. Maybe he feels some sort of deep down kinship with the turtles that they could develop into a friendship to calm him down, but initially I see him more as a rage filled wild card.

-->> ..sounds like a fun take. i like that, man.

I believe Murphy and Brown's approach was for the TMTNAs not only to deviate away from the cartoon, but to have it mature as it's audience did.

Even Bebop and Rocksteady gained some weird sense of being as the stories progressed. I guess i found the comics approach to Slash just a bit touching.

I agree tho' .. at one point in the TMNTAs there was just so many damn aliens.

WonderDookie In reply to tOkKa [2009-11-27 21:24:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I definitely appreciate that effort to make the turtles mature a bit, especially considering that the original audience is well into their 20s or 30s now. haha. Doesn't that make you feel old?

I remember when I was a kid I liked how they did him in the comics over how they did it in the cartoon, I think it used to piss me off, but I was a little kid, shit like that was taken PERSONAL, lol

Seriously can't wait to see whatever TMNT character you take on next!

haha. I still take stuff like that personally. I can't even watch that one animated Batman show where The Riddler looked like Marilyn Manson. I just get angry if I even see screenshots.

Up next is Casey Jones. I'm about half way done with it.

Oh yeah, no matter what when I read Batman comics, those are the voices I hear in my head, especially Batman and Joker. And now that they've announced the sequel to Arkham Asylum, we'll get to hear em again! Arkham Asylum was just wicked overall, great writing, was not expecting to get into Batman's head, but what do you expect with Paul Dini writing it!

iamfergie [2009-11-22 05:46:31 +0000 UTC]

NICE! I really like his shell. It reminds me of those alligator snapping turtles, which are rather badass. I'm assuming the tree freshener around his neck is because he's stinky. Which makes sense, because my fifth grade class had a pet turtle, and it smelled like old salami.
