“It was a lazy and still afternoon and everyone was doing their little tasks. Someone was tending to the mole mice, another spinning some rope up in the tree. I was on the ground with the jackal birds. All of a sudden everyone grew quiet and the wind began to pick up. I wished for something to break the silence. My wish was answered with screeches, cries of “danger” and “monster”. My mind raced with possibilities, fantastic terrors of browsers and fire. Suddenly a flash of black streaked across the sky and it dawned on me what the danger was. I grabbed the closest thing I could find, a sharpened bone tool and leapt into the sky. Soon I was face to face with it. They’re terrible to look at, like us but wrong and twisted. Their feathers are dark and faces bald like children but their eyes are the worst part, pale and empty like the sun or some dead thing. And as I stared into them I saw that behind them there was nothing, but a beast”

A story told by an older builder parrot to the younger individuals of the nest village. The bald faced raven parrot is a large raven parrot found throughout North America. Unlike builder parrots they are not sapient and are a constant threat to their social relatives. Bald faced raven parrots are not very closely related to builder parrots as they hail from a more widespread less socially cooperative species.
